These cant miss guys seem to always hit snags. Thatis why i never get to excited till they actually get to st louis. Beltran might get an extra thought of being resigned now.

Maybe, but part of me thinks the team might be better with Adams at first and Craig in RF, rather than Beltran in RF, Craig at 1B and Adams on the bench provided that the money that would have gone to Beltran is used to upgrade SS and/or the bench.

Idk if this roster need A real ss or a swift kick in the ass.

Cardinals place Tony Cruz on DL with left forearm stress fracture. Molina, Robinson coming off DL today.--Langosch

Given the absurdity of good shortstops, it's hard to see Beltran's theoretical money going in that direction, unless they pony up for J.J. Hardy. They could always throw money at Jacoby Ellsbury, sign Matt Garza or put together a trade for Chris Sale. I think where it gets complicated is that the majority of teams who would need to sell off reside in the National League. The NL is absurdly bad this season, whereas the White Sox, Astros, Yankees, Angels and Mariners are the only real dregs of the AL. And three of those teams have too many washed up players.

According to Rotoworld, Elvis Andrus cleared waivers. 8/$120 is a lot of years/money to swallow, but Andrus is only 24. Who know why Texas passed him through waivers, but that could be a direction to look in after the season is over.

Why would elvis be an option now. The cardinals need something. Hopefully molina helps but i think this team has become stale by stilling on the side lines during the trade deadline.

I'm not sure Andrus is available, but he's in the middle of his worst season as a major leaguer. Maybe Texas has some buyer's remorse about his contract extension and would rather put the money to use elsewhere. From the Cardinals perspective, if they were willing to take on the contract, it might cost less in terms of trade return.
