I don't care that it benefitted the Cardinals. Phil Cuzzi is terrible.
the bat barely left the shoulder..lol
I am ready for replay. I like how it was described. What did they say? 1 replay in the first 6 and 2 in the last innings. I like that and i dont care what it applies to. I would be fine with balls and stikes as well. If a manager wants to make a replay worth getting a ball/strike call overturned then so be it.
With umpires like Cuzzi, Angel Hernandez and C.B. Bucknor, 3 replays may not be enough. Maybe MLB can do like the owners and offer a "dynamic replay" package. On days when good umpires work, a team only gets 1 replay, but when Cuzzi works you get 7.

It is hard to say the different effects replay would have. In the nfl i think plays are called certain ways because it can be reviewed. Idk how that would apply to baseball.

Hope this guy holds up and give our starters a boost as well as some rest for the BP...

Hernandez and Bucknor are poor umpires, but at least they listen to dissenting opinions. Cuzzi is the worst technical umpire in the league, and he makes it worse because when he blows a call he won't hear from anyone. As soon as Sveum came out of the dugout yesterday, he was going to get tossed.
If you were watching WGN's slow motion replay of the pitch to Murphy, you saw Cuzzi was watching the ball, and he didn't pick up Murphy's bat until after he brought the bat back to his shoulder. There's no way he could have seen whether Murphy checked his swing or not. But he didn't ask for help, he made a bad call and then reacted angrily when it was challenged.
The only other umpire who combines those levels of anger is incomptence is Bob Davidson, and at least Davidson was a decent technical umpire about a century ago. Cuzzi has never been a major league-caliber umpire.

Joe West is in that category as well.

I've never thought West was all that angry. Tired and sarcastic, definitely.
