Pitching duel thus far ...

I know Johnson's having the best year of his life, but I would have pitched around Freeman. He's clearly the best hitter on this team.

The Dave Veres "era" as the Cardinals' closer apparently has a delayed effect ...

And the best defensive first baseman in the National League.

The only two players I've seen hit a ball over the bleachers in left are Holliday and Albert.

Violent swing + really strong man + perfect contact = absolutely crushed.

We've had discussions at work about whether someone could actually hit one "out" of Busch. Everyone I've seen clear the bleachers does so in that same spot where the elevators and stairs keep it in the park. You'd have to clear the bleachers about 20-25 feet to the right to have a chance to hit the concrete and bounce over or through the fence and out to the street. I've yet to see that done.

.335 average. 37 doubles and 10 HRs. It still amazes me how good of a hitter Molina has become.

Medlen blinked first with the aid of Molina and Jay .....

Smart move, bad execution.

Dumb move, great execution.

If you trust Waino with the bases loaded over Mendozma, it's a bad sign.

Kozma's not even a good decoy .....

With Mujica unavailable and Rosenthal having thrown yesterday, it's nearly a foregone conclusion that Wainwright gets a chance to finish this. Sure he'll be at 130 pitches with his next start being against the Reds, but hey, we win today's game first and worry about the others later.

He clearly has gas in the tank...

Anyone want to take a stab at how many are in attendance at PetCo for Cubs v. Padres?

Brewers 6, TTTIB 4

Brewers beat TTTIB 6-4.
Oops, late to the party.

Not many, but I bet a healthy percentage are CubFans. Arizona and SoCal are lousy with transplanted Chicagoans.
