I think Matheny's platooning is very smart.

Smoltz just said that Lynn has given up 4 or more runs in 10 different innings this year.

1,2,3 , much better...

Loud outs ; no runs ...

Lynn has put 3 good innings together; can we get a run or 2 boys ?

This has been a dazzling effort from the bats today.

Laird should be putting on the catcher's stuff now; squeezed..

What was the issue between Yadi and the ump? Did the ump crowd him as he was trying to make his throw?

No; Lynn popped off to the ump about a call he missed on Laird . Laird was definitely struck out , but ended up walking. Yadi was just trying to protect Lynn ..

Ahh. OK, thx.

That ball Simmons hit got out in a hurry , Lynn about to go over 4.00 , if not already ..

Lynn, had his weak moment early, but settled down , save the tater to Simmons later. Can't lay it all off on him though , if we're not gonna score ...

It tough to complain about taking 3 of 4 from Atlanta. Now we get 13 games against the teams we need to beat. Next 2 weeks go a long way to sorting out the Central.

I couldn't figure out if Lynn was unlucky in the first couple of innings or he wasn't very good. And it seemed like everything the Cardinals hit in the first two innings were line drives right at people. As Fors wrote, it's tough to complain about taking three of four from the Braves, but this one would have set them up nicely on a couple of fronts. They would have been in first place all by themselves, and they would have won the tiebreaker with Atlanta.

Yeah, I thought at first Yadi was complaining about Terdo coming across the plate when he swung and missed, but then the replay showed Lynn was grousing about the call to Laird. What the heck was Laird doing trying to take second anyway? He's slower than my wife.

Seemed like a good many of those pitches were in the middle of the plate. Minor was extremely lucky.
