The defense has been pitiful. Wainwright has been bad, but those first two grounders are scooped up by good defenders.

There are about 10 million different scenarios I could have envisioned for this game. The Cardinals trailing by six runs going into the bottom of the first wouldn't have been one of them.

Have to admit I pulled the chute on this one after six innings.
I'm sure calling a member of the evil media a fat motherfucker will score Phillips a few points with the true believers, but all Phillips did was act like a playground bully. This is another reason why the Reds have a hard time winning when they have to. They're more worried about style than substance.

idk what normally happens but imo that is a lack of leadership by dusty for immediately removing himself from the situation. The reporters comment "that is between him and him" is spot on. Phillips just had to renew his douchebag stause.

mm has dusty bakered this whole pitching staff. He rides the same guys every night. He is gojng to ride them straight to the dl when we need them most.

We left in the 6th inning as well.
TLR's nightly lineup changes used to infuriate members of the BFIB, but TLR understood the grind of 162 games. The 2013 Cardinals have had it pretty good--this is really the first stretch of summer weather we've had all summer. But even absent the heat, what we're seeing is that Rosenthal's arm is about to fall off, Mujica's back is being held together with piano wire and duct tape, and Wainwright has been pushed to pitch more innings before the calendar flips to September than he did all last season.
We used to make fun of Cubs fans for being myopic, but Matheny's win today's game and worry about tomorrow approach appears to be taking its toll on this team.

The video wasn't worth posting because it doesn't show Phillips or the reporter at all. It's just Dusty behind his desk, with a smirk on his face in the beginning and then a little more serious by the time you hear the fourth or fifth "motherfucker" being bleeped out.
