9/11 pregame stuff

Per Yahoo Sports' Team Report: "--RHP Lance Lynn might be pitching for his spot in the rotation Wednesday night. Lynn hasn't won since Aug. 4 in Cincinnati and is 0-5 over his last six starts. He lost Thursday night in Cincinnati when he allowed three solo homers in five innings. Manager Mike Matheny opted to give Lynn another start despite the wishes of general manager John Mozeliak."

Hmm... might Lynn be pitching for more than just his spot?

In other news, Goold reports the Mariners have traded Brendan Ryan to the Yankees.

Re: 9/11 pregame stuff

Per Chad, they picked up on a way in which Lynn was tipping his breaking stuff. They're hopeful he'll be better.

Re: 9/11 pregame stuff

It might not be a bad thing to put Lynn on notice, but if he falters tonight, who gets his next start? Westbrook? Lyons?

Hard to believe a guy with a .520 OPS passed through waivers.

Sorry, don.rob, for missing that you already posted the Ryan trade last night, but when I logged in there were no new posts indicated. So it's AP's fault

I still disappointed there won't be a Brendan Ryan return to Busch Stadium day. I bet Chris Carpenter is disappointed too.

It's probably more of an acknowledgement that Jeter won't be back this season. The Yankees didn't have anyone other than Nunez who can even stand at shortstop.

I'm glad they ended up with one taller building rather than replicating the twin towers. It looks like we're holding up a giant middle finger to all the friggin' terrorists.

TTTIB 6, Cubs 0 F

Texas just scored twice to make it 4-2, Pirates, with two on, none out in the 6th.

Per Langosch, Cardinals gave away 15,000 complimentary tickets to members of the military and first responders in honor of 9/11.

Re: 9/11 pregame stuff

I know that wasn't Cuzzi's call, but he still sucks.

Re: 9/11 pregame stuff

That's right, Guccione. Fuck up the call and then start giving shit to the guy who hit the ball.

Re: 9/11 pregame stuff

Lynn has to pitch well for the next couple of innings until the Cardinals get over the notion they've been fucked in the ass.

Was out cutting the grass. What was the blown call?  How has Lynn looked?

Re: 9/11 pregame stuff

Horton just said the Cardinals don't have a hit yet. They have a hit. It was called a foul ball.

Adams hit a line drive that hit the yellow line on the right field wall. Aoki played it like it was a fair ball. Beltran ran to third like it was a fair ball. The only person in the park who thought it was a foul ball was the guy who had to make the call.

Re: 9/11 pregame stuff

Oh and Lynn has looked better. Not great. But better. He's still falling behind in the count too often, but he's scattering the hits so far.

since it is injury related if the yankees did make the playoff would ryan be able to play?  I have no clue if the yankees can even make the playoffs.

The Yankees are among about three dozen teams that have a shot at one of the AL wild card spots. I have no idea whether Ryan can play in the post-season. I recall someone saying anyone who is in the organization as of Sept. 1 is eligible, but I don't remember who said it.
