Pitching probables
San Diego (Cashner) at Pittsburgh (Burnett)
TTTIB (Cueto) at Houston (Bedard)
St. Louis (Lynn) at Colorado (McHugh)
Atlanta (Minor) at Warshington (Haren)
Is it me, or does it seem like the Pirates have played about 120 games at home this year?

Yes, it does. Luckily this is it for them.

After tonight, they and the Cardinals will have played exactly the same number of home games, each having six home and six road games left.

The Rockies' broadcast just did a breakdown of McHugh's pitch selection and velocity.
He throws 57 percent fastballs at an average of 89 mph.
That's pus, and a lot of it.

Andrew Cashner has retired the first 18 Pirates he's faced.
Padres just took a 1-0 lead in the 7th.

The Rockies have a guy with a 10.00 ERA making his second or third major league start, the Cardinals are starting a guy who hasn't pitched well in a month and Colorado bunts the first runner of the game over to second like this is going to be a 1-0 game.

Tabata leads off the bottom of the 7th with a hit.
Padres 2, Bucs 0

One baserunner. I would've loved to see a perfecto take the wind out of that friggin' brigantine's sails.

This guy's ERA is falling faster than my Krispy Kreme stock did a few years ago.

You had to think schooner or later someone would come up with a hit.

Great at bat by Dickerson. He misses a hit-and-run sign then flips the bat on a fly ball that doesn't reach the warning track.

As long as the RRRRRs stayed at zero.

I'm growing weary of medium-depth fly balls this evening.

Not avast supply of those, either.

I hate bringing in the infield halfway. Either bring 'em up all the way, or leave 'em back all the way.

Burn a .250 hitter with a sac bunt so a .160 hitter can drive him in? I don't get it.

How many big hits has Matty C. had this year?

If CBS' GameTracker's graphic is to be believed, 3 strikes looking were called balls for Tulo.

It was a great idea to have Rosenthal pitch in the ninth inning of a 12-2 game yesterday.
