Players Manager Matheny should recognize that Wainwright is awful after he's been pushed so hard.

TK, are you aware of any stats regarding Wainwright's ERA in the first inning in say, the last 5-6 starts? It seems like he gives up a lot of runs in the first inning lately.

For the season his first inning ERA is 5.91 and batters have a .331 average. He's given up first inning runs in seven of his last 13 starts.
Here again, Matheny is pushing Wainwright. It's almost like he expected him to cruise for the final six outs and make him not have to think about the bullpen. I hate making statements like this, but it seems like Matheny is afraid. He gets completely discombobulated when he can't use the paint-by-numbers approach.

I think Mujica has been sitting next to Westbrook lately ; they're probably discussing Shakespeare...

This season at home, ERA in the first inning 9.00. The rest of the game it's 1.63.

Where do you guys get these stats? I used to rely on Yahoo, but they've added so many bells and whistles over the past couple of months, it's become hard to navigate.

Cubs came so close to tying it in the ninth. But now the Nats are done, so maybe they'll help St. Louis keep the pressure on the Braves.

I would have stayed with Siegrist too. The odds of Desmond running into one of Siegrist's fastballs or LaRoche running into one of Rosenthal's fastballs is about the same, but if you can give Rosenthal a night off ...

They've become the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Cardinals' bullpen.

Ironically, it was on of the stats they talked about on the post-game show. I stole the information from their graphic.
My guess is Baseball-reference.com might have them.
