Lineups aren't available yet, but I'm going on record in support of MM's decision to start Westbrook today. Westbrook is motivated to put up one last good (albeit short) start to both help the team and salvage the remainder of his career. He can show a lot in his three innings today, and there's no guarantee anyone else won't get shelled; baseball's funny that way. It sounds as though some regulars are to be rested, and I believe the team will appreciate the gesture as well as MM's confidence in those he'll send out there today. Maybe this is one of those situations where you do what you believe to be the right thing and let the chips fall where they may.

Apparently he gets an inning at the most and will be pulled at the first sign of trouble.

He could get in trouble if MM just let him throw out the ceremonial 1st pitch...

They're showcasing him for a trade.
Looks like Kelly will be the long man in the bullpen, eh?

5-0. The converted infielder who is playing centerfield for the Phillies just dropped a popup.
Cards are on their own today ...

It'll be interesting to see what happens if the Braves lose this game, because there have been two close plays at second base that have gone against them. The one I saw could have gone either way, and it certainly didn't warrant the fuss that Fredi Gonzalez put up. I used to think the Braves were the way they are because of Bobby Cox, but after all the nonsense about the infield fly rule in last year's WC game, I've determined that the entire franchise is just a big ol' bag of douche.

Henderson Alverez gets a no-hitter , but his team has to get a walk-off wild pitch in the 9th ..Strange ....

Good. If they could maintain that lack of interested for five more innings that would be great.

Since he started, I figured he'd go at least a couple or until the first sign of trouble. One inning seems a bit pointless, but what do I know. Nice 4th for the Cards.

So Latos' injury was first reported (by him) to be an abdominal strain, now it's apparently an elbow problem. Maybe it's neither and the issue is testicular.
