There's your ball game.
Nah it's not over yet. Have a little faith. The cardinals have already won two games against much tougher pitchers than I thought they would in this series.
They look befuddled. They needed Wainwright and the bullpen to deliver another shutout.
Wainwright did pitch a shutout. Or at least a one run ball game. 2 of the run scored of bs fielding mistakes that just cant happen. I also thought it was a easy call to pitch around Gonzalez. Either isnt scary. Plus it set up the dp. MM has some blame in that call. The strike zone allowed for low and wide pitches. It seemed fair except for a few calles. Idk I was in the mood to bitch about anything after watch such a horrible display and lack of focus. I am with tk tho. Looking at this situation as the cardinals being up 2-1 and that is it, is narrow minded. Tonight is a must. Lynn cant implode. Going to 2-2 with kershaw and grienke to come in a 3 game series isnt a good option at all. It always amazes me how quickly momentum changes. Playoff baseball is easily the most exciting time in amercan sports.

Okay.
The Cardinals played a very difficult series with Pittsburgh and had to win a very pivotal game 4 with Wacha on the mound in Pittsburgh. We then had to burn our ace to advance beyond game 5. However, we landed in the NLCS against a very tough LA Dodger team with rested aces.
We beat both of those clowns with Joe Kelly, and Wacha.
That led us to yesterday where we could have gone up 3-0 but ran into a left hander pitching at home who was very good. Couple that with a major bonehead baserunning gaffe by Descalso, an intentional walk that never happened to Gonzales, and a couple of balls that never should have hit the ground because Jay played bad in centerfield, we are only up 2-1. Yet ALL of the above had to happen for us to lose.... IN LOS ANGELES!
We have home field, and it looks like we have Wacha/Wainright for those two games if we need them. I'd much rather we win tonight and give ourselves a chance to rest Wainright for the World Series, but if we lose it's not over.
I'm just saying, it's not like we haven't had a great amount of success with the St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and there are a LOT of other teams who would be killing to have our "problems" (including the Dodgers) of only being up 2-1 heading into game 4. This isn't Cleveland, or Buffalo, and we're not Cubs fans who should be sitting around griping about how the worst is coming, and we should all be concerned. Even last season, you play the 2011 Cardinals up with a 3-1 lead against the Giants, and they find a way to win a game 85% of the time, we just didn't hit it there.
I think I'm just fed up with the constant negativity. We're fans, not ANALysts... Be fans for a few days. It's a game we all fell in love with as kids, and now that we understand the mental aspect behind it, we're all primo couch managers, but that doesn't really mean we should totally forget about the love of the game. I just looked and my paycheck doesn't change even if the Cardinals never win another game! I'm sure it will hurt if we don't advance after such a strong showing, but I'm not so jaded that I expect it, or even worry about it.
The bottom line, we're up 2-1 in the NLCS and have two more chances to win on enemy turf before coming home to play in front of the sea of red for games 6/7 if we have to. Let's try and keep that in focus, we're not dead, we're not even down. Get yourselves out of the pity party funk you seem to love wallowing in and be fans. You'll enjoy the series a lot more, I promise.

Alz has a point. If you told me the cardinals would be up 2-1 id have taken it 10 out of ten times. I also think there is plenty of reasons to be pessimistic. Zero hitting and the worst fundamental playoff game I have ever seen is a good reason. I forgot to mention descalso dumbass blunter. Wtf was he thinking?
As for just sitting back an enjoying the ride....cant do it. The stress makes it fun. We are the best fans in baseball. We have a reputation to live up to (said with sarcasm).

Zero hitting. You have a point, we need to hit the ball better than we have. It's atrocious. We'll see how the guys play tonight, this is definately the most hittable pitcher we're going to see, and we need to jump on him and get some confidence going.
Some comforting news however... The Dodgers are over there saying the same thing. They haven't exactly knocked the crap out of the ball. That "hitting barage" they put on display yesterday that saved their season consisted of 2 missplayed balls, and Yadi not quite blocking a plate. Otherwise, none of that is on the board and we still might be watching them playing at 0-0 right now. They get to deal with Lynn, who's either Jeckyl or Hyde. Hoping the extended rest did him some good, he looked sharp out of the pen the other day. Let's see if he can get it together.
If we win, we're in amazing shape, best we could have hoped for actually.
If we lose? Well we get our top three pitchers in a best of 3 series going, with two of them at home.
But we do need to hit some balls. I'm hoping for things hit to Puig over in right. If it's out of his range, he doesn't know what the safe play is, and will happily turn a single into a triple for you with a bad dive.
I'd consider plunking Ramirez in the ribs again myself, yep I'm that nasty.

Sorry, Alz, but I don't believe that bad vibes or negativity from fans really has any affect on what happens to sports teams. I suppose I can be annoying with my pessimistic attitude, but I feel like I'm giving an honest assessment of the situation.
In my opinion, the Cardinals were extremely lucky to win Games 1-2. I don't think they took competitive at-bats, and I wasn't encouraged by Joe Kelly's performance. I've always been repulsed by this team's defensive ability and figured at some point it would come back to bite them. Well, in Game 2 it almost did, and in Game 3 it definitely did.
The Cardinals have been appallingly terrible against lefties all season long, which is why I didn't have a good feeling about their chances against Ry.
Tonight, I don't have a lot of confidence in them to defeat Nolasco. I don't trust Lance Lynn, and I think Nolasco has had enough time to heal from whatever it was that came over him in September. He pitched strong against the Cardinals twice this season, but right now it doesn't really matter who the Cardinals are facing, because they just aren't squaring up the ball.
I suppose if the Cardinals can keep limiting the Dodgers to a run or two they'll have a chance to win the series, but if they continue hitting .130 it's simply not going to happen.

Ill have to remember that your definition of a terrible team is the best record in the NL, and up 2-1 in the NLCS. SeriouslyI think your expectations are flat bullshit and a bit unrealistic. If we beat their ace we got lucky. Twice in fact but they beat ours and its expected because we suck? Screw that man that's just a shit way to look at things and this isn't Cleveland.
I don't think you effect the outcome of anything but my mood in reading the forums here. It would just be nice to see you get behind your team instead of looking for every reason to tear them a new ass.
It gets old. Be a fan for a while. You might enjoy the fact you're watching your team instead of someone else's. Seriously, relax. You aren't really affected if the do lose so enjoy the moment buzzkill.
