Re: NLCS Game 6 GC

Nothing like 100 mph to punctuate the win.

Re: NLCS Game 6 GC

I never get tired of watching Yadi run out to the mound to hug a pitcher.

No doubt.

Now a couple of days to rest. Waino gets to start Game 1, and maybe, just maybe, we get some good news and find out Craig is available to hit.

Re: NLCS Game 6 GC

A couple things.

I had a feeling wacha would blow them away. He's too young to realize he shouldn't be able to match kershaw. He's also got the pitching arm and command to do it. He's never not played a season where the world series wasn't in the cards.Youth is oblivious to such trivialities.

I didn't think we'd hammer kershaw like that but I thought we'd win 2-0 or 2-1 and had a ready supply of tums to get through it. Now we can run whoever we want to on the rotation and sit and wait to see who we play.

Welcome back to the world series. Get comfortable boys. We have wacha/wainright/miller for many years to come. We may be making this an annual trip for some time.

Carpenter has figured it out. Adams utilized the entire field. Beltran was huge all series in the clutch, and we won 3/4 games against greinke/kershaw.

See you in the world series boys. Good to be back!

MM just said it looks like he'll be on the roster. He won't have to play in the field until Game 3, which I think is a week from tomorrow.

Correct. But even if he can't play the field, having him on the bench at home when you're more likely to need a pinch hitter is a huge addition to the roster.

And please, please, can someone take Mujica's spot on the roster.

If DeWitt would spend some cash and be more like the Phillies these pennants would happen in even-numbered years, too.

Re: NLCS Game 6 GC

I'm done questioning MM. There are things I don't agree with but the results are there. I have faith and I think he's got the tools to win vs Detroit or Boston.

Seriously we could lose but can you really be scared after dealing with Greinke and Kershaw?

Bring it.  We're ready.

Yes, I believe he's grown into the job before our eyes.

Tigers have the karma/revenge factor. '06 was our payback for '68 for us old farts but Verlander and Leyland have something to prove.

Red Sox have Fenway, but we have that karma/revenge thing on them.

Shoot; maybe it'll come down to who plays better baseball. Stranger things have happened.

Craig at DH against Lester would be a nice option.

Matheny still makes moves that are baffling, and he's loyal to a fault. But one thing of which I'm absolutely certain--TLR couldn't have won with this team. The notion of starting a pitcher with fewer than 15 major league starts in Game 4 of the LDS and Games 2 and 6 of the LCS would have caused his head to explode. TLR would have tried to force a trade for a veteran starter and reliever, and more often than not he got his way.

Watching last night I remembered the trade deadline rumor of Martinez for Alexei Ramirez. Watching Martinez effortlessly hit 100 mph time and time again, could you have imagined trading him for a bad rental shortstop?

Interesting. I wonder if Moz would have allowed that to happen.
Alz is correct. We criticize Matheny's decisions from time to time, but in two years in the league he's taken the Cardinals to a Game 7 of the LCS and now the World Series, with a team that on paper isn't as good as the Dodgers or the Reds.
As for who they play in the next round, I really don't care. I'd rather not see them have to face Scherzer and Verlander, but on the other hand I don't want Jonny Gomes to ever play in a World Series, and I'm sure I don't want to listen to bandwagon Red Sox fans tout the natural superiority of Boston because a team comprised of players from other parts of the country and other countries won the American League pennant.

If craig can swing the bat and hobble to first he is an upgrade on this roster.  Chambers and mujica are both wasted spots.  Id rarher see them keep chamber just for extra lumber in an extra inning game but id really be fine with either making an exit.

MM does wierd stuff.  Ill agree with that.  When tlr did odd things it seemed he had reasoning.  MM moves are just wierd.  I think he is going to be a really solid manager in a few years.  This is his second year managing anything.  I also agree that alot of manager would have won with this team.  One thing that seperates MM is natural leadership.

I'm watching the post game for the first time and I'm disappointed there haven't been any reaction shots of that Mickey Mouse bitch Adrian Gonzalez.

I noticed that too tk, apparently he's faster than Puig when it comes time to vacate the premises.

In all fairness to Gonzalez, he personally did enough to advance his team to a world series, and his antics weren't nearly as annoying as "beast mode". That still has to be the most self satisfying series win ever in my history as a Cardinal fan, as far as personal vengeance. Milwaukee was so mouthy winning the division.
