Ultimately you have to score to have a chance to win, but the tone of this game was set when Pete Kozma couldn't catch an underhand toss.
I fucking hate Pete Kozma.

Damn. Nava got a hit. I hope Farrell doesn't start him tomorrow.

Perfect time to pitch Mujica , and he runs Martinez out there ...

Only by a touchdown and an extra point.

I still can't believe Adam Wainwright's first World Series start was so brutal. He looked every bit as terrible tonight as he did against Cincinnati. I just don't think the Red Sox are a good matchup for hi, especially when the curve is SOS.

I was thinking about this. I assume that the thinking to getting axford, maness and martinez into the game is to shake the nerves out in a game that is already over. If mm has to use them tonight maybe they feel more comfortable having thrown already. I think if that is the thinking it is the right call. You dont save the bullpen innings in the word series. Friday is a off day and everyone is able to pitch tonight.

One ood thing about last night is that it was so horrible you just have to forget it happend. Losing a one run game in the 9th lingers more then these games i think. An L is an L. Still have a chance to split and that is all you can really expect anyway.

The two things that concern me the most are Beltran's availability and Siegrist giving up a home run to a left-handed batter, something he hadn't done all year. He may be gassed. I think he was topping out at 93-94 last night when he's been consistently throwing 97 all season. Then again, it may have been nerves.

Okay Joe Buck just committed a seriously civilian offense... don't call anyone who has been awarded a medal of honor a "medal of honor winner".
It's not a prize or contest. Every one has been hard earned.
The veteran in me sorry. What's the correct terminology? In case it ever comes up.
Medal of Honor Recipient is the most common, or saying someone "earned a medal of honor" is acceptable.

No player has looked more rattled than Siegrist. He's looked like a deer in the headlights since the NLDS. I think this is way too big for him, and the Cardinals are in trouble if he's unable to handle the pressure.
My hope is that last night will be the last straw in realizing this team has to get better defensively in 2014. I'll be forever in awe of what Freese did two years ago, but he looks like toast, and he's a traffic cone at third. I don't think there's any way they can go into 2014 with him at third base.

Now there's this:

I saw the vaseline story. Idk what to think of it. Hopefully if it is true it will but pressure on red sox pitchers to stay clean the rest of the series.

I agree about freese but i am not sure how ready wong is. I am not sure moving carp is smart either. More serious then 3b is ss. They can get by with any combo of freese, carp, wong and descalso before they place kozma back at ss.

"before they place kozma back at ss."
Kozma is like my mother-in-law. He has a lot of shortcomings that annoy you, but after a while you get used to it and you starting thinking you can put up with him, and then - bang! - he fucks up big at the worst possible moment and you want to strangle him until he turns blue.

The first place I saw it was on Barstool under a headline that read Cardinals' fans are bitching about it. I haven't heard or read any Cardinals' fans bitching. I've only heard Red Sox' fans bitching that Cardinals' fans are bitching about it.

Kozma will make many plays an average shortstop wont make. He has above average range. However he goes braindead and makes mistakes. Id rather have a shortstop that doesnt go braindead and has normal range.

Yeah, I'm not bitching because they didn't edge us in a close game. That was a route. However, if it's true, and I gotta be honest the video coverage of him touching that spot with his fingertips really makes that look like he's cheating. You're not going to overturn or replay game 1, but look into this, and if he cheated in the world series, suspend him.
I'm not going to rave about it, but it really looks like he's cheating in that vid. Otherwise I'd just blow it off.

It is part of baseball. You get caught u pay the price. Lester didnt get caught tho. We will never know if it is true or not. Maybe id be pissed if the cards lost by a run. This is really a non story at this point.

That's actually the wierd part of the story, everything I've seen shows that video of him in the 7th inning.... Now if my calculations are correct, in the top of the 7th, we're losing 5-0? Boston has an amazing bullpen from everything I've heard, so why on earth would you risk being caught then?
That just doesn't totally add up for me. We didn't just lose, we lost big, and none of that had much to do with Lester, but I think they should look into it, and suspend him if they catch him in video touching that spot a bunch during the game.
