Do i have a man crush on joe buck or is he that good?
Cards have a much stronger lineup at home taking the dh away from the red soxs.

Interesting idea by beltran to bunt. Not a big fan but the inning worked out. They had peavy on the ropes. I wish they would have got a couple more. Good first inning tho.

Peavy got one swing and miss in the first inning. Bad sign for a pitcher.

Kelly better back off the velocity a couple MPH or he's going to have nothing left by the fourth inning.

That was an amazing play by carp.
Easy time for peavy to settle in again the bottom of the order.

"Interesting idea by beltran to bunt."
The problem I had with that was the pitch he bunted was a 3-1 cookie. McCarver is correct that it's tougher to swing from the left side if the left side of his rib cage is hurting, but if he can't swing at the pitch he bunted, he shouldn't be in the lineup.

34 pitches through 3....not bad. This redsox lineup isnt going to be the same without the dh, imo.

I agree. However if he bunts it better he is on base. It had to be up the third base line slightly more. Also it move carp up and holliday scored. You never knkw if that happens if carp doesnt get to second. I would advise it again and never would call for it but i wont argue with the results.

Did McCarver just call Beltran "the Puerto Rican Roberto Clemente?"

Geez-us Holliday. That's inexcusable.

Either stand on first base or run hard to second. What he did was little league.

Ortiz is going to have to get himself out whenever he comes up with someone on base. It's probably not a bad strategy, but I hate it.

What a huge wasted opportunity there ...

Not scoring there is going to come back and bite the Cardinals.

My joy at bases loaded, no outs, was immediately tempered by the realization Kozma and the pitcher were coming up.

And I had more faith in the pitcher.

I would have used Craig there for Kozma , and put Descalso in ..

Kelly gets one more baserunner.

Doubront is the kind of pitcher who drives the Cardinals crazy.

I am not giving ortiz much to hit here. Nothing drivable. Walking him isnt so bad.

Only because Victorino was leading off and Victorino hasn't hit the ball hard yet in the series.

If you bring in Choate, you've played your trump card, so you have to go after him.
