Wtf happend
Adams and Molina both struck out on 3-2 pitches around their eyes with a runner on third and less then two outs.
Kozma stood on top of second base and made a ... casual ... throw to first on a double play that would have ended the inning.
It was Kozma who ruined Wacha's no-hitter by casually backing him up. The guy plays with all the urgency of a fat kid.
Of all the lazy popups and called thirds he's taken this year, the thing I'm going to never be able to forgive him for is assuming the double play there. I suppose you give Nava credit for hustling, but there's no fucking way a line drive 1-hopper with a runner on first isn't converted into a double play ... unless the guy in the middle takes his time.

And damn Matheny for thinking Martinez all of a sudden is a lights-out setup guy. Yeah, he pitched well on Thursday. But he's still a 22-year-old kid who pitched half the season in Memphis.

Fine. Who plays shortstop?
Me? You? Garry Templeton? I think the Cardinals should be open to all possibilities.

You and Garry maybe, but remember I'm left handed. The only position on the left side of the infield I can play is third base.

I dont feel bad about axford. He had been pretty good.

OK, but he's given up a couple of long ones. And if the Cardinals don't score, he's facing 2-3-4, right?

Oh, and I'm out of beer. So any time the Cardinals want to win this one ...

I'll take it

I wish they would have won a different way. Still craig is safe at home if he doesnt get held up. Also molina didnt get much of a jump off third to make the second out. Pretty wild.

I hope Craig is ok, he didn't look good coming off the field ..

Red Sox fans are going to whine about this until the end of time.
Lost in all of it is going to be Pedroia made a great play on the ground ball.

Yeah, this wasn't good.

Yeah. Great win, excellent call. Too bad it had to be Molasses on Craig's hit or the last play never would have happened.

Even Schilling is saying it was the right call. Middlebrooks was the only reason Craig didn't score, so while I understand the Red Sox being upset, they should accept the fact that the game would have to end either way.

I know they are saying it doesnt matter but his feet came up. He didnt lay there like a dead fish. He knew where craig was and just at the right time his feet came up. He says it wasnt on purpose but whatever, it happend. That is why craig fell. If they want to be mad at someone be mad at salty. U put that ball in ur pocket. Second time this series that the cardinals havescored runs on a poor throw to third.

It looks pretty cut and dried to me. If anyone, the Cardinals should be pissed that Craig was tripped and then forced to run and slide harder than should have been necessary.

This is arguably the second time Saltalamacchia has cost the Red Sox a game in the series with an atrocious decision on defense at a critical moment. Since he arrived in Boston, the Red Sox have tried pretend Saltalamacchia is the second coming of Jason Varitek, and he's just not that player.

We were out last night at an event that didn't have a television. We made it to a bar just in time to see Craig's at bat and then the ending. I called interference as soon as it happened. It was pretty obvious.
Anyone from Boston who tries to argue the umps made the wrong call is an idiot. The rule doesn't require an intent to interfere, though it looked as though Middlebrooks brought up his legs on purpose.
Agree with Don. It looked like Craig was hurting after it was over. Hope they can take care of business tonight and not need him. Maybe have him available for Game 5 against Lester.
