Nice work, Choate.

I'd stick one in Gomes' ear right here, but that would probably be interpreted as poor sportsmanship.

Day after:
As good as the Cardinals were this season, I thought they had a lot of good fortune not necessarily in their control that helped them along the way. Obviously this stuff tends to balance out after 162 games, but hitting .330 with RISP is simply not doable year in, year out. I just don't think there was a lot of balance in the lineup. Outside of Beltran in the first half, they had to string together hits. Outside of Carpenter and Holliday, they weren't great at working counts or drawing walks. It was a slow-as-molasses punch-and-judy lineup that inexplicably stopped hitting home runs this season.
It irks me to no end that it was Boston that won. This is an organization that flamed out so badly two years ago that they dumped $300 million worth of salary on another stupid team, then proceeded to spend more stupid money on Shane Victorino and Ryan Dempster. I'm so tired of hearing about how well-run the Red Sox are.

Agreed, TK. I think we all had our concerns, but that was also the case in '06 and '11 and those teams managed to prevail anyway. This time the Red Sox were able to take advantage of everything they were given, but the Cardinals still took them to six games. And I like to think there's more upside than downside going forward, assuming a couple of holes get plugged with solid contributors.

This has not been an easy day thus far.

It's OK if you hit somebody.
JV, I agree that there's way more upside ahead.

"It's OK if you hit somebody."
I'd like to hit the next person who tries to give me shit, but I'll settle for asking them if they sprained an ankle jumping off the bandwagon after the Red Sox finished last in their division last year.

Should be and interesting offseason. Pitching staff is more then set. A few questions like what to do with axford and mucjia. Also what they do with freese and beltran. Id let both walk. An upgrade at short is the biggest need and i think they need to go as big as they can. Drew didnt impress me enough.

Mujica filed for free agency. I'd say he's out.

I probably started writing it before the Offseason Thread existed. I was working in the middle of writing it. Problem fixed.
