5-17 Gamecrap

TLR is the new Chief Baseball Officer in Zona. Duncan is already there and Jocketty may not be far behind.

Re: 5-17 Gamecrap

This team plays with its head up its asses. Horrible job by Holliday, awful throw by Wong and then Carpenter doesn't even the leave the damn bag to keep the ball from going away. This has to be the most fundamentally deficient team.

Re: 5-17 Gamecrap

Cardinals Bingo includes bad throwing error, bad baserunning mistake and crucial RISP failure. Two down.

I liked how how everyone left the cards.  I knew tlr had to much drive to stay away tho.  The trio reuniting seems wierd and i doubt it works.

These are some cheap ass runs, but it doesn't matter. It's good to see that speed being put to use.

There's a Two-for-Wong special on bunt singles today.

You forgot Miller being in the wrong position to back up the throw.

I heard that and wondered if Chad might be moving on.

Re: 5-17 Gamecrap

Are Horton and McLaughlin broadcasting from Ballpark Village today? They should mention it more.

Tell him it's a dry heat.

He's a California/Hawaii guy. He's much more comfortable in desert heat than St. Louis winters.

Re: 5-17 Gamecrap

I wouldn't mind another run or two so Matheny isn't tempted to run Rosenhausen back out there.

Who had May 17 in the "On which day will Matt Adams hit a triple to left field?" pool?

Good thing Tone didn't take a job with the Twins then.
I'm not sure what La Russa is thinking with this. I don't know what the Diamondbacks have at the minor league level, but all they have in the majors is a an MVP-caliber first baseman, a basher would would ideally be a DH, a decent catcher, a Gold Glove outfielder who would be hitting eighth in a decent lineup, and one starting pitcher who will be coming back from surgery. The rest of it is flotsam and jetsam that won't be in the major leagues in five years, maybe even three. La Russa may not be alive long enough for his gang to turn around that hot mess.

Re: 5-17 Gamecrap

Tlr is gojng to have to build from within and have good drafts.  The dbacks are not going to go on a shopping spree.  Where the dbacks are and what they need to do doesnt really sit with tlr mind frame.  He has never been good at not being competitive.

He'd better be a quick learner, because he's never drafted anyone in his life, and he's never been a scout. It's interesting that they kept Towers on as general manager. La Russa's strengths have always been his competitiveness, his intensity and his attention to minutae. It's hard to project that into a dugout when you're sitting in a luxury box.

They have nothing.

I'm just not sure what Arizona is thinking here. Obviously Kevin Towers has been a disaster, but the solution is to hire someone that's never sat in the front office? And whose idea of a second baseman/shortstop was Aaron Miles? I imagine that La Russa is going to hand pick his next manager (good-bye, Kirk Gibson) and it's going to be someone he can control.
