Teheran shut out the Brewers on five hits. I'm pretty sure the Cardinals are happy they missed that friggin' guy.

Everyone else in the division has lost, except for the Cubs, who are somehow leading Professor Tanaka in the rain at Wrigley.

Sort of boring.  Like watch a high schooler mow threw a little league lineup.  This is the good kind of boring for once and it was nice to see a few balls hit to the outfield and beyond.

I shouldnt be so harsh.  He is a 15 to 20 hr guy if healthy and not suspended.  It is just wierd he completely forgot how to hit for the first month of the season except how to hit balls out of the park.  He is still seeing pitchers for the first time in this league which wws his excuse but it drilling the ball.  Whatever he is doing he needs to share the knowledge.

I had to cut out after the sixth inning, so I set the DVR and watched this morning. What a night.

Interesting. I'm not familiar with their work. Sounds like it could be the soundtrack to a documentary about beastiality in West Virginia.

It reminded me of Carpenter in 2005. I almost felt badly for that rookie who got sent up to pinch-hit in the ninth inning. Wainwright threw him a curve, and the kid started to back away, then he realized it was coming back over the plate and tried to swing.

He was probably pressing to justify the big contract he signed. I think that's more of a factor than most people think it is, because it seems to happen to a lot of guys.

I agree and that players produce in walk years.

I think walk up music is retarded in general.  Why not just make an enterance like the wwe?  Midgets, dancing girls, throw in a cape and mask to seal the deal.

Guess who is third in the NL among shortstops in OPS? Yep, you guessed it -- Frank Stallone.

Actually, it's Peralta, and he trails Castro by five points (.824 to .819). I would guess he was pressing, trying to prove that he doesn't need steroids and he was also unlucky.

I'm still concerned about Craig. Yesterday I heard a huge schmozz break out between Bob Ramsey and Joe Strauss about him. Ramsey thinks Craig needs to be moved into a platoon and that he's not a .300 hitter. Strauss contends that Craig is still one of the best hitters in the league and can still be a .290 hitter. I did the math on that and even if Craig hits .300 the rest of the season, that would make him a .265 hitter. He has more in common with David Freese than people would like to believe.

Re: 5/20 game crap

I'm going to abstain on passing judgment on Craig. I'd give him a full season of work and see where he falls. We gave Freese two. It's May, I'm not ready to pull him from the lineup.

I call bullshit. While Frank Stallone is a talented singer/songwriter, a snappy dresser and one hell of a model American, it's well-known he can't hit a breaking ball worth squat.

Re: 5/20 game crap

I think craig can be a decent everyday outfielder.  Im not sure how he fits in with the cardinals tho.  They need over the fence power and craig isnt cutting it.  He isnt a great fielder and has no speed.  Basicly he is a slow singles and double hitter.  As the cardinals search for power in the middle of the order craig is blocking a power position and really the only power position the cardinals can change.  The other spot they could upgrade would be finding a slugging center fielder.  This isnt fantasy baseball and jim edmonds has lost a step.  That leads us back to right field and craig.  He needs delt the very next time this club thinks his value is on the rise.  Tavares cant be blocked next year anyway.  It will happen.

As for putting craig at first in a platoon, i think it is logical to an extent.  If you do that the mind frame of the front office is that craig is on his way out.  Taveras is here to stay and your not worried about adams developing against lefties.  the here and right now mind frame would say this is the right decision.

I wouldn't be as quick to chuck Craig in the bin. He's had two bad months to start the season while he's learning to play a new position. He's a career .300 who drives in a ton of runs though he's not a slugger, and until last night he had gotten on base in nine straight games, so he may be coming out of it. Granted, he looked awful last night, but he's never hit Arroyo (.190 lifetime) well.
Long-term, I don't know how the outfield/first base situation plays out. Holliday is here for three more years, unless he waives his no-trade clause. Craig will be here for three more years. Adams is cost-controlled. Bourjos and Jay are on 1-year contracts, and I'm not sure how much time they've got left before they hit free agency, not that it probably matters. Taveras will probably be here before the end of the season and they're working him in centerfield more at Memphis. Piscotty continues to develop. And though he wasn't particularly impressive in St. Louis, Grichuk gives them another option. I like his bat speed and I especially liked his defense.
These are interesting problems to have.

Under different circumstances, he could have been the cowboy in the Village People:
