Craig looks awful. Just plain awful.

Lynn is often a bit of a punching bag on this board, but I read in the online recap of last night's game that Lynn is the first Cardinals pitcher since Bob Gibson (68-70) to have 10 or more wins prior to the All-Star Break in 3 consecutive seasons.
If you're a pitcher, and you manage in any way to get your name mentioned in the same sentence with Bob Gibson, you've done something right.

I would guess 90 percent of the complaints about Lynn have come in July-August, though I did have the misfortune of sitting through two of his starts in person. He can be a really good pitcher, but really annoying when he's bad because of his body language.

Good news: It sounds like Matheny still believes in Craig. Can't link it from my phone.

Aye. In his chat yesterday, Strauss was took a questioner to task for suggesting the Cardinals are boring. Strauss' response was that he can still appreicate a low-scoring pitchers' duel, even if an increasing component of the fan base is more attracted to shiny objects.
Sorry, Joe. I'm as much of a baseball snob as anyone, but I have a hard time appreciating the beauty of the game when Miller, Lynn and Martinez are grinding out 20-25 pitch innings while the Cardinals' offense plays 90-feet-at-a-time baseball.
Those aren't pitchers' duels. It's like watching a couple of sissies trying to whip each other with limp strands of spaghetti.

You said it. I feel like Martinez gets a pass because he's 22 and has only been pitching professionally for parts of four seasons, but Lynn, Miller and Kelly can be agonizing to watch.

That's a real kick in the nuts.
In better news, TTTIB lost today and the Brewers are losing 7-1 late. Chance to get within 1 game.
