James Ramsey goes to Cleveland.

Interesting. My impression of Masterson is he's usually very good or very bad.

I think that's pretty accurate.

He's listed as being on the DL. I assume he'll be activated soon.

Supposedly Friday.

It's a knee injury, not an arm injury.

Boring....cardinals trade a minor league outfielder for a back of the rotation pitcher who is on the dl. This will really inspire a teammthat looks dead 4 nights a week. I was wanting something more.

I think Masterson is going to be solid. He's moving from one of the worst defenses to the best, and he's an extreme ground ball pitcher. The concern for me are the walks.

Just not a thrilling move. I had my hopes of adding a ace pitcher. Maybe it will work out great. This team needs a kick in the ass. I hope mo keeps his eyes open.

Lester and Gomes to the A's for Cespedes.

That's a decent move for Boston and a great one for Oakland. Cespedes doesn't get Boston any closer to rebounding next season and he's got one year left on his contract. But, he could be a good complementary piece. He could also be traded again before the deadline.
Oakland made out like bandits.

I'm glad he didn't go to the Pirates.

Again, the media defaults to the position that BOSTON WINS ANOTHER TRADE. I don't know when Yoenis Cespedes became a Hall of Famer, but if you read the comments sections of stories on the trade, that's the impression one gets.

I give Oakland credit for going for it. Kind of funny though, since Billy Beane has long been on record that playoff success is pretty much random.

It is odd for oakland to give up offense off the everyday roster. As far as pitching goes, lester is a game changer and the best player involved in this trade. I assume gomes takes cespedes spot which is a huge downgrade. Id say it was a pretty even trade.

Oaklands pitching is stacked. I will say that.

Gomes will only play against lefties and the difference between him and Cespedes in that regard isn't much.
It is odd for Oakland to go all-in to this degree, but that was a hard deal to pass up. The American League just isn't scary beyond them, the Angels and whatever day Max Scherzer pitches.
