StlToday.com

How annoying that site has become. Launches videos you can't turn off; if you pause or mute them the ad that's just seconds away undoes your setting. They mustn't want people going there.

Not to mention that they now have certain stories they expect you to pay for in order to read them. None of their writers are good enough for me to pay to read.

Re: StlToday.com

Absent Strauss' weekly chat, there's hardly a reason to go on there anymore. And I don't even find Strauss that informative ever since he's been elevated to columnist from beat writer.

Re: StlToday.com

I check the site but rarely read a story.  If i do i lose interest pretty quickly.  Bernie has been somewhat interesting lately just because he has taken issue with alot of the problem of the team.  MM blundering, the craig trade and taverez drama.  Other then that the site reads as if it is a program guide issued by the front office.  And like has been said.  The popups and videos are annoying.  Ill never pay to read internet news.  Someone will always offer it for free.  If not i watch espn.  It is the last option but still an option.

Re: StlToday.com

Yeah my sister sent me a link from the "back home" newspaper. It's called "Herald & News" in Klamath Falls Oregon. They are "kind" enough to give you 5 free stories a month, then you can pay to read.

Uh.... say what???? Kiss my ass!!!

Yeah, it's been difficult for the newspaper industry to get people to pay for what they read on line, the way people who use to get "free" TV now pay for cable.
The paper I work for has a website that's free, but we limit the content. I get the occasional irate phone call from a person who can't find an obituary or a certain news story on line, and all I can say to them is "We need to give people a reason to buy the paper once in awhile." If they're from out-of-town, all I can do is apologize.
Newspapers are to the early 21st century are what buggy whips were to the early 20th century. There's less reason for them to exist every day.
