The Phillies supposedly hang on to their old, formerly good players because they don't want to spoil goodwill with their fans. But looking at this crowd, maybe they should ask if it's worth it to demand top prospects for a 43-year-old corner outfielder.

Maybe Matheny should stop letting Wainwright chase individual goals and be more judicious about the way he uses a 32-year-old arm that's three years removed from Tommy John.
