Re: 9/3 GC

Let me be the first to say I've grown tired of Bourjos. I don't know how a supposed major league player simply cannot execute a proper slide. How many times this season has he over-slid a base only to be tagged out as a result?

Re: 9/3 GC

Twice. I'm annoyed by that, too, but he's still their best defensive player and gives this lumbering bunch speed on the bases, even if he'll slide too late.

Xavier Scruggs needs to be on this roster. Matt Adams is sucking wind and Matheny keeps running him out there to get carved up.

Re: 9/3 GC

"Let me be the first to say I've grown tired of Bourjos."

So noted. We've seen Bourjos look overmatched, particularly against a good fastball and a cutter/slider that breaks down and away. Jay's ascendency and prowess against LHP particuarly over the last month have essentially relegated Bourjos to late inning defense and pinch-running duties, but I think he can still be a valuable contributor in both roles.
I'm more critical of how the Cardinals' speed has been used. Bourjos is wasted in the eighth spot, as is Wong in the 2-hole. How about letting Wong lead off? I know his OBP isn't what you'd normally want from a leadoff hitter,  but when he does get on, you've set yourself up for a big inning.

Re: 9/3 GC

Why not start grichuk.  He went 3 for 4 yesterday.

Re: 9/3 GC

Good inning by Miller. He's working hard to mix in the curve.

Re: 9/3 GC

Are the Cardinals ever going to learn to not pitch Marte down and in?

Whereas Sideshow Bob is mowing down the Cardinals like he's Walter Johnson.

I don't know why they try to be aggressive with him.

Meanwhile, this is the best I've seen of Miller in awhile. Let's hope he keeps it up.

Re: 9/3 GC

I think that's Adams's first trip to first base since July.

Re: 9/3 GC

16th time this year and fifth time in the last 13 games Holliday has been HBP. He's now tied with Jay for the league lead.

Re: 9/3 GC

Well, they got Volquez's pitch count up some. At this rate he should be tired out by the 10th.

No truth to the rumor Maloney had to give him directions to second.
Speaking of base coaches, I wonder how frosty things are over at third. The ump who threw out Oquendo last night is over there today.

I like the story line.  Them throwing at andrew!  This team needs to be assholes for awhile.  At least get mad about something.

I'm sorry, but an endorsement by Phil Hellmuth would not make me more likely to go to Hardee's to buy a hamburger.

Re: 9/3 GC

This game is too important to have Martinez pitching in the eighth inning.

Re: 9/3 GC

Well that was entertaining. It looked like McCutchen was just toying with Martinez's breaking ball.
