Seems like everyone is coming off the DL at the right time. Molina arrives, and the starting pitching collectively gets untouchable again... Coincedence?
My God how valuable is Yadi exactly? 9-2 in games he's played since he came back. 35 runs allows in those 11 games. (I'm not looking up how many were unearned).
That's a total staff "RA" of 3.18 or something for the games he's played in.
Anyway, this is a good time for us to start playing the baseball games we have been hoping for and expecting. Makes us very dangerous come postseason. We've played severly under form for most of the season, and here we are with a 4.5 game cushion and 18 to play.
Magic number is 15.

"Magic number is 15."
I would expect a nasty response from Artie. Or at least an evil glare from the East Coast.

Don't bother me while I'm fishing here fors, I think I just got a nibble!

Well...the pitching was pretty bad Molina's first week back, but I do think there's something about his presence that has solidified the team.

Some funny stuff ...

That was a great read. I know that as a Cardinal fan, Boston kills me. I wonder sometimes how the rest of baseball must see us, and Philly.... We pretty much stole their lunch money and crippled Ryan Howard (He ripped a ligament leaving the box on that final at bat in 2011, and really hasn't ever come back). That was clearly their year, they probably hate our guts. I would. I still hate the New England Patriots for the AFC title game in 1985....

And Milwaukee's loss today officially locks up a playoff spot.

Anyone else a little nervous that the Cardinals could use some help from the Braves who are now 4-14 this September?

Nah. I'm sure the Braves will have the integrity to try to win.
Thursday's starting pitcher for the Braves is TBA. If you send a letter to Fredi Gonzalez and ask nicely, it could be you.

Maybe the Braves are serious, they just fired their GM.

The price of acquiring B.J. Upton.

And Dan Uggla.

I was 50/50 whether to go with Upton or Uggla. Turns out, after some research, Uggla may have been signed to one of the worst contracts ever. They've paid him $39 million the last three years to hit, respectively, .179 (2012) .149 (2013) and .162 (this year, before they released him. The Giants pitcked him up and he lasted four games, going 0-for-11 with a walk and 6 Ks in 12 plate appearances).
And they owe him $13 for next year, while he's playing slow-pitch softball somewhere.
B.J. Upton is almost a bargain by comparison.

I think we got our answer about the Braves last night. At least Aaron Harang showed up.
Not that the Cubs were any better. I didn't get home until the top of the sixth inning, but it looked like there were more Cardinals fans in the stands than Cubs fans.

Alz "Magic Number" updates were derailed Saturday by a Dodge Caravan that didn't see my motorcycle and changed lanes right on top of me. Pretty superficial wounds with the exception of a decent hip pointer bruise that kept me from walking for 2 days (missing one day of work). I'm now in the process of putting up claims with his insurance company and mine (in case Allstate doesn't pay off for whatever reason) and I'm limping around.
Still living though!

Hope you recover quickly and can avoid another such occurence . My son is a Lieutenant in the motor patrol division in a South Louisiana Parish near Baton Rouge and I worry about him all the time as he has had a couple of incidents where people who were not paying attention put him in the hospital on two occasions ( broken bones , lacerations, internal injuries,) but he loves his bike, and has one of his own; and won't give it up.......

Yeah no breaks, I was not nearly as unfortunate as I could have been. Low speed, although it really doesn't take a lot for pavement to suck. I don't know why that is shocking to me, it shouldn't be.
I'm not sure what my riding future holds. I'm not really scared of riding, but that was about as minor as it could be and it still sucked hard. It was also sad because I had no out. I was hemmed in by a curb on the left side and couldn't get away from it. Tried braking and he bumped me and knocked me over before I could clear him. I used to run around thinking exceptionally safe riders could navigate 99% of the issues and avoid it. Well this was the 1%, and it was no fun at all.
