The absolute worst imaginable would be tying them, losing the division title game, then playing the wild card game.

Even if we win that, we're going up against a rested champion with our top 2 starters on the cooler.

Not necessarily. As it's set up right now, Wainwright pitches Sunday. If we're tied after Sunday, and they somehow managed to win one of the two play-in games, Wainwright would be available to start Game 1 of the LDS. The bigger task would be winning one of those two games without him.

Re: 9/24 GC

True, but saving Wain-o in case we get in won't help us much if we don't get in. If you get down to the wild card game and wainright can pitch to get you through, you can't really pass on it in my opinion.

Well you can, but if Matheny pulls that move, and they lose, everyone in here will be lighting him up like the fourth of July over it.

Re: 9/24 GC

It isn't a case of saving Wainwright.  If he pitches on Sunday (as scheduled), he won't be available to pitch either of the play-in games.

Re: 9/24 GC

This wacha thing needs to be done.  He doesnt need to throw in the playoffs.  At this point with him you just dont know what ur going to get.  There are guys that have to throw.  Lynn and miller have earned it.  You have to give them the ball.
