9/27 non-Gamecrap

Guess what my over-the-air FOX MLB game today is. Hint: it has zero playoff implications.

Red Sox-Yankees?
I think I heard somewhere the Yankees' shortstop is retiring.

Go, Redlegs!

I'm torn between thinking the Nats are a better matchup and the fact they'd have revenge on their minds against the Cards, along with the inherent desire to win the division. I'd still prefer seeing the Pirates play LA in the first round.

Ricky Ludwig helps his old team with a two-out RBI single.

You're probably going to have to play both the Nashnils and the Dodgers to get there anyway, and I'd rather see the Dodgers' pitching in as few games as necessary.

Home Run Hoover gets out of the sixth without any permanent damage.

Now I realize the main advantage to winning the division is the very real prospect that the Pirates will knock off either one of those teams and be the Cards' LCS opponent.

Pitates 6, TTTIB 4 B7

LeCure gets the first two outs, then plunks Snider on the knee with an 0-2 pitch. Polanco pinch runs, steals second, and scores when Santiago kicks McCutchen's ground ball to short. McCutchen scores when Walker hits a triple that lands about three inches inside of the right field foul line.

Thank goodness for GIBP. Todd Frazer just hit an opposite field popup that landed in the front row of the bleachers to tie the game with one out in the bottom of the seventh. TTTIB 6, Pirates 6

Cosart, Hamilton and Bruce aren't playing today. I can understand Bruce sitting because Liriano started.

Re: 9/27 non-Gamecrap

When Pena failed after a 3-0 count with the bases loaded, I was afraid it wasn't happening. Now... ONE MORE WIN, Cardinals!

The 3-1 pitch was outside. Borderline, but outside. Jim Joyce's strike zone was uncharacteristically malleable today. The Reds were on him quite a bit.

No excuses now. 2 days to win 1 game.

The Reds will win tomorrow anyway. I would think Johnny Cueto will pitch very well in a game that's important only to him.

I'd like to see them get Lynn a win tonight. He's had some shitty luck lately.
