Reds take a 1-0 lead in the first.

Cole and Cueto both pitching well. 1 -1 after 5.
Offline
Cueto with the go-ahead RBI in the eighth.
Offline
4-1 now.

4-1 with the best closer in baseball ready to throw the 9th im sure. Todays starter for the cardinals better be lyons. Nothing to gain by throwing waino. The cardinals tried but they couldnt fuck it up.

That was really, really weird. Bourgios led off with a triple. Cozart lined out to third, and they left Cueto in the game to hit, then pinch-ran for him after he singled. Negron just hit a homer to make it 4-1, so unless the Pirates come up with three runs off Chapman in the bottom of the ninth, the Cardinals are going to win the division while they're in the clubhouse in Phoenix.
BTW, the Pirates are really, really pissed at Cueto. He drilled McCutchen in the shoulder in the eighth inning.

I think the only reason Cueto was out there batting for himself was because Price didn't have any faith that they would score, so Cueto would go out to the ninth with a chance to get the win still.

And another thing. Cueto's follow-through with the bat caught Stewart on his catching hand, and he had to leave the game. Russell Martin hasn't played since Friday because he's got a hamstring issue, so the Pirates are down to their third catcher.

Marte lead off single. God, I hope Chapman blows this.

Oh, I understand the logic. It's just really, really selfish. Especially with the way Cueto is celebrating like the Reds are about to win the pennant.

What?

Cueto becomes the first person with a vagina to win 20 games in a season and goes home for the winter.
Cardinals win the division and play in the NLDS on Friday in Los Angeles.

I'd say Waino starts but has a pitch count of around 70.

The Pirates hit Mesoraco in the bottom of the eighth, but I don't think it was intentional.

Greenwood starting.

The PA announcer just referred to Dbacks' fans as "the best fans in baseball."
Might be a little more of a truism if they hadn't been getting drowned out in their own ballpark all weekend by Cardinals' fans.

I'm kind of surprised they'd give him eleven days' rest, but I suppose he can throw as much as he needs to.

Greenwood is going to throw a no-hitter today.

I would have been OK with a 70-75 pitch outing, like J suggested. Friday would have been his regular day to pitch anyway.
BTW, Brenly is all over Matheny for changing his lineup at the last minute. This is why pencils come with erasers, Bob.

Seemed logical. In fact it gives the dbacks a better chance to win. At least the cards made the playoffs. No division playoff or one game wild card. I still fear the dodgers. As long as they are in the playoffs they have a chance.
