I would assume Bochy will arrange his rotation so we face Vogelsong twice. Let me be the first to say I hate Ryan Vogelsong, and I really hate watching the Cardinals facing Ryan Vogelsong.

There's not a pitcher I'm eager to see them face.

Any Giants pitcher is better than seeing Grienke.

I agree. The dodgers had 2 pitchers better then any of the giant pitchers. Not to say the giants wont shut them down... it has to be a pretty big ego boast to have beat the didgers and i hope the team plays with alittle bit of a chip on their shoulder....unless im mistaken, the cardinals have HFA for this series?

"unless im mistaken, the cardinals have HFA for this series?"
As usual, you are not mistaken.
I'll go out on a limb and say the Giants will get a lot better results from their bullpen than the Dodgers did from theirs.

I'm not sure what to expect, other than the Giants have as much October Pixie Dust as the Cardinals. Joe Strauss is seriously skeptical about Adam Wainwright's health right now and since there was some minor controversy yesterday about it, I'm going to assume that he's not 100 percent.
Part of me is grateful for the Giants winning, but part of me wonders if it would've been better to play the Natinals.

We're STILL playing with the house money though. A fourth straight appearance in the NLCS despite this being the worst Cardinals team we've seen on the field in quite some time.
Being upset about any opponent or result at this part of the season (which we have no business still playing in, be honest) is like winning an all expenses paid trip to the Bahama's and being pissed off you still are expected to leave a gratuity...
Side notes:
1) There's really nothing from the Giants that frightens me after we won 3 out of 4 against a team that put Kershaw up against us twice and Grienke once. I'm sure we'll have a tough go of it with Bumgarner, etc etc, but whatever. It's gravy.
2) Seriously wtf is wrong with Bryce Harper? Hits a game tying home run, then glares at the pitcher the entire time around the bases and runs into the dugout where he THEN proceeds to talk mad shit while hanging out with all his teammates at his side? Real fucking big man aren't you. Enjoy the offseason you prick.

The cardinals are a very good home team. Sub .500 onmthe road. HFA is huge imo. Evdn without waino the cards pitching should be able to match up equally. I think waino will go and if he doesnt i expect them to give wacha the ball in game four.

My thoughts are similar. The Giants come in with as much momentum as the Cardinals, and this ridiculously long period between the end of the LDS and the LCS allows them to set their rotation. So much for the advantage of winning your division.
They just have guys who seem to own the Cardinals - Pence, Blanco, Sandoval, Vogelsong - more than the Nashnils did. I wouldn't be surprised if Marco Scutaro drops out of the sky and hits .714 against them in this series despite wearing a back brace.

He's a 21-year-old kid acting like a 21-year-old kid who hasn't faced a lot of obstacles in his life. Maturity has always been an issue, and the lack of it is the reason I've never really liked him. Once he grows up, he'll be a better player, and a much more likable person.

Yeah, there's the recent history where we beat the Nats, then went on to lose famously to San Fransisco in 2012. However, on the other side, there's now home field, and Barry Fucking Zito is not there to kill us.
I'm seriously pulling for the Royals, I want no part of Bud Norris if we get to the World Series. You want to talk about a guy that seems to own the Cardinals....

And I'll be arriving in The Lou for my first-ever visit on Sunday. Whatever might I do to occupy my time that evening?

Well, I defer of course to the locals, but before the game we hung out at Hrabosky's, afterwards we went to the Landing, and then we may have crossed the river for some ribaldry, but the passage of time has made the details a bit fuzzy.

I have an early day Monday and probably have to pass on the ribaldry, but am seriously considering hitting the game. Some nosebleed seats available in the $75 - $80 range... doesn't sound bad, eh? Or too good to be true?

Again, others have more experience inside the stadium, but I guess seats in right field get hotter than Hades during the day and early evening. It might not be as bad this time of year, however.
I'm very envious, BTW ...

JV, unfortunately Hrabosky's is no longer running, however I would definitely recommend Ballpark village in its place. If you can't get into the game, go the ballpark village and watch the game on that screen. It's the next best thing. If you do get to go to the game, go across the street and see that place anyway at some point.
Honestly, that's pretty much all you need to know for Cardinals. Busch Stadium, and Ballpark Village.
For the rest of the city, there's the arch which is worth a stroll around if you've never been close to it. There's Lumiere place for some decent casino action there downtown. There's also a Botanical Garden and a zoo there close to downtown. Outside of that, if you've never been to a hockey game and there's one in town (Looks like a no on this, there's a game on the 11th, but that's Saturday), live NHL hockey is a lot of fun to watch, and in many ways the best sport of them all to watch in person.

I'd definitely do the Arch. As long as you're not claustrophobic and don't mind fitting into one of those little elevators with five other people.
There was a paino bar at the Landing that was a good bit of fun. This may have been before your time on the Yahoo boards, but there was an older gentleman named Kent who lived in upstate New York who depending upon one's political point of view was kind of an antagonist ("kind of" in this instance being relative, as in Godzilla "kind of" laid waste to Tokyo) and a major pain in the ass.
Anyway, we're at this piano bar and there's a bachelorette party sauntering our way. There's apparently a Midwestern custom where the bridemaids follow the bride-to-be selling lollipops for $1, I assume as some sort of dowry. Being from the East Coast, neither Kent nor I was familiar with this particular activity, but I played along and gave her a dollar bill for a lollipop, and then laughed hysterically as Kent fished out a dollar's worth of change from his pants pockets when it was his turn to pay up.

Yeah, I heard it's because no one could get a ride because the taxis wouldn't go there anymore after some knucklehead from Montana broke one.

JV, if you're going to buy a ticket from anyone other than the Cardinals, but it from StubHub. They're reputable and guarantee the authenticity of the ticket. If you try to buy one outside the stadium you do so at your own risk. Every year it seems like St. Louis has an issue with counterfeit tickets being sold outside of the stadium.
As far as other things to do, I'll second Alz's recommendation of Ballpark Village before, during or after the game. I haven't seen an announcement as to a start time for Sunday's game. The ALCS should be off, so I would think it would be prime time, but being on a Sunday, I don't know for sure. Any other recommendations I would make would be somewhat dependent on where you're staying while in town and whether you have a car. Taxis aren't always easy to get in St. Louis, so unless you have your own transportation, you'll want to stay close to your hotel.

Thanks, Artie and Alz. I have had the form for an UberSeat ticket open for two hours now, thinking once I pull the trigger I'll regret one thing or another (UberSeat is a scam, should have picked a better seat, etc). I might procrastinate my chances away, so Ballpark Village is a great option.
I do remember Kent's posts. He was a trip!
Haven't posted much/at all during the playoffs, so it's catch up time. Last Friday I was following the game via brief checks on my phone as I was on a lengthy bus tour thing & trying to preserve the battery. Pretty wild seeing 1 - 0 top 4th (keep it up, Waino), then 1 -1 (still got 'em, guys), then 1 - 4 (damn! shake it off, dudes), then 1 - 6 with 1 hit top 6th (hmm... maybe not our night). Then, after a slightly longer wait, seeing 10 - 6, I was digging for my reading glasses to make sure. It must have been something to see!

Thanks Fors. Per my other post, UberSeat had these nice prices, but it also has plenty of negative reviews so I'll take your recommendation to heart. My hotel is downtown, on Fourth Street, so it looks like walking distance from a lot of the good stuff.
I didn't mean to come off like a stick-in-the-mud. Would be happy to meet up for a beer if the stars align. I'll be in town until Friday, but am sure my boss will be keeping me busy.

As an aside, my apologies to The Lou for typing "The Loo", which I assume is a name used mainly by Chicagoans.

It's totally okay by me JV, if you wanna meet up for a beer or something just post it up here. I have plans on Thursdays (bowling league) but am otherwise freed up. It'd give me a chance to see Fors again, and maybe meet AP/tk for the first time if they wanted to jump in. Meeting up in 2006 was a blast. Hard to believe that was 8 years back.

You staying at the Drury or the Hyatt? I'm basically across the street from both.
I'd be happy to meet up. My only potential bad day is Monday--Bob may have a football game.
