JV, if you're going to buy a ticket from anyone other than the Cardinals, but it from StubHub. They're reputable and guarantee the authenticity of the ticket. If you try to buy one outside the stadium you do so at your own risk. Every year it seems like St. Louis has an issue with counterfeit tickets being sold outside of the stadium.
As far as other things to do, I'll second Alz's recommendation of Ballpark Village before, during or after the game. I haven't seen an announcement as to a start time for Sunday's game. The ALCS should be off, so I would think it would be prime time, but being on a Sunday, I don't know for sure. Any other recommendations I would make would be somewhat dependent on where you're staying while in town and whether you have a car. Taxis aren't always easy to get in St. Louis, so unless you have your own transportation, you'll want to stay close to your hotel. Thanks Fors. Per my other post, UberSeat had these nice prices, but it also has plenty of negative reviews so I'll take your recommendation to heart. My hotel is downtown, on Fourth Street, so it looks like walking distance from a lot of the good stuff.
I didn't mean to come off like a stick-in-the-mud. Would be happy to meet up for a beer if the stars align. I'll be in town until Friday, but am sure my boss will be keeping me busy. You staying at the Drury or the Hyatt? I'm basically across the street from both.
I'd be happy to meet up. My only potential bad day is Monday--Bob may have a football game.
Crowne Plaza. I got a ticket for Sunday's game and am getting more pumped all the time. At first, Yahoo showed game time as noon, which was a surprise, but now it says 8 PM.
A beer Tuesday or Wednesday would be great. I have a dinner at 7:30 on Wednesday at Mike Shannon's and perhaps some time before that will work. Alz, if Monday works better for you I'm up for that too. I'm somewhat tethered to my boss' whims but should be able to make plans.

JV, you're at the Crowne Plaza downtown on 4th street, the one in Bridgeport by the airport, or the one that's in Clayton?
Any day works fine for me, so why don't we look at Tuesday since you have something Wednesday and Fors might be busy on Monday.

Always forget about Crowne Plaza. You're 2 blocks north of our office.
Why don't we aim for Tuesday late afternoon/evening. The Cardinals game starts at 3:00. We could catch the end of the game somewhere. Ballpark Village???

I'm in favor of this, and it's an away game so it won't be quite as crowded (although it WILL be crowded) in there with the stadium folks.

From what I've seen/read the "protesters" outside of Ferguson are very civil. They are disruptive only with their attendance, and the might sing and show some banners. I guess they were at the Powell Symphony hall and stood up singing at some point when there was no music going. They unrolled their banners, and sang a few verses while clapping. Then they left. No harm done at all, and good for them.
Nothing like crowds that need arresting or tear gas... More like a public awareness effort that involves real life, not facebook. I can appreciate and respect protests of that nature.

It's been a mixed bag. The protest at the symphony was certainly peaceful. But there have been protest leaders calling for violence should an indictment not issue (and it's unlikely that one will). Then there was this new incident last night where an off-duty cop shot and killed an 18-year old who fired 3 shots at the cop. The police recovered the gun and she'll casings, but the dead guy's family claims he was unarmed and holding a sandwich (loaded, apparently). This led to more protests at which multiple shots were fired.
This shit's far from over.

Yeah I heard about that second guy getting shot and killed but they said he squeezed off three of his own at the cop so I stopped caring about him dying at that point.

Exactly, in a month when there is no indictment the roof is going to come off. It is going to come un freaking glued. Rodney king style riots. The protesters are just resting and getting a full head of steam for it. It is going to be bad and ill feel bad for every average joe going about his daily life and police officer that have to deal with it. I wonder if the feds will come in and try him on a civil rights violation. It is bullshit if it happens but i could see obama and his racially charged clan doing just that. Eric holder is in his limbo stage. He could do it and get out.
I heard about the other night. I wonder how many st louis police have got hurt or put themself further in danger because they didnt the proper amount of force being scared that they would become a nation incident.

Well nationally the police aren't all scared.
Some cops in North Carolina pepper sprayed an 18 year old black kid (who just got home from high school) in his own house because they didn't believe he lived there with his white foster parents and thought he was a burglar.
I'm betting a few years of that young man's college education will be paid for by the Fuquay-Varina Police Department.
Apparently a neighbor knew white people lived there and reported a burglary when a young black man went inside.... Since he was a foster child they took in last year, when he told the cops he lived there and they looked at the displayed family photo's he wasn't in the ones they saw.... They assumed he was lying to get out of the crime, and he was pretty irate that he was in his house getting hassled by the man when he hadn't done anything.
I know why they did what they did, and I don't think the cops should be fired or disciplined, but I do think there's a civil liability there. You can't pepper spray a resident in his home because you thought he broke into it.

Who knows if its true or just a lawyer's spin, but that's exactly what the cop's attorney has stated publicly.
The officer’s lawyer, Brian Millikan, defended his client’s actions in a telephone interview Thursday. Millikan said the officer actually “hesitated and probably hesitated too long, and he’s fortunate the guy missed him.”
Here's the kicker--there are all of these reports that the suspect was unarmed and only holding a sandwich. Last night, they were interviewing family members telling the tale of a good boy who wouldn't carry a weapon.
Except there's one small glitch in that story--the suspect was wearing an ankle monitoring device because he was out on bond related to a pending charge of Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

You know what though... good. I hope there is a massive blow-up and we have it settled one way or the other. I don't mean that I'm going to arm up and "help the white side", I just mean that I think the government will be making a mistake by catering to the justice demands of an unruly mob.
If thousands of people want to get up and go on a crime binge to protest what they see as injustice, go right ahead, and if the police respond with severe military force? Bonus. You don't give a 2 year old ice cream when he throws a fit in the store, unless you want to be buying that little brat ice cream every time he feels like it. You can either take his little butt outside and give him a swat or two, or ignore him and buy his brother ice cream right in his face for being a good boy. Either will work.

Tuesday for the end of the game at BV sounds ideal. I'll be in the company of a manager who loves to call impromptu meetings and work all hours, though, so I'll need to get ahead of the curve on that.
I also want to check out the Private Messaging option so as not to drive the other readers insane with envy. Looks like you can message only one person at a time, though.

Fors, I'll be sending you a text message today here to make sure you still got my number. I gave it to JV. My only worry is cell phone networks in Ballpark Village might be unreliable with all the people there.
I'm 6'1 250 lbs, with a full beard and black glasses. I'll be wearing black dockers, a red Cardinal hat, a red collared polo shirt, and a red Cardinal Pullover jacket. Should be totally easy to spot I know! Hopefully the texts are working good.
I plan on being there for the first pitch myself. You can join me when you get there.
