On a much, much lighter note ...

I've been avoiding the sports pages for the last couple of days in the aftermath of Taveras' death, but leave it to Jose Canseco nearly qualifying for a Darwin Award to bring me back.

You'd have to ask Claudine Longet.
(You're too young to get that reference, but it's really, really funny. Trust me.)

Re: On a much, much lighter note ...

I'm not convinced anyone shoots themselves cleaning a gun. I'm betting the truth was probably monumentally more stupid. I have very limited experience with guns, and cleaning them (from watching my dad). Used to love it, because the whole place smelled like that "lemon-y" oil for the day. First thing he'd do? Break it down. First thing you do there? Take out the clip and clear the chamber. This is a two handed process, and requires neither hand be anywhere near the front of the gun.

Re: On a much, much lighter note ...

If there are people dumb enough to shove foreign objects up their ass, then there are people dumb enough to shoot themselves cleaning a gun.

I'm just saying it's not an accident at that point. It's hard work to shoot yourself while cleaning a gun man.

In order to break alot of guns down, like a glock, you must pull the trigger first.  In order to remove the cylinder of revolvers you must slightly cock the hammer.  Possible yes....should it happen?  No!

Yes so one hand is on the trigger, with another one pulling the hammer back, and you shoot off a finger? Do we now have 3 hands?

Edit: I'm saying it's far more believable that he did something that was MONUMENTALLY stupid, even by Canseco's standards, and the story was "I was cleaning the gun and it went off".
