If the Marlins sign him to this rumored contract, Vegas should set an over/under line on Stanton's age when the Marlins trade him.
He's 24 now, I'd guess he's traded before he turns 28.

No way is any player worth that risk and yes they will unload him early in the contract.

Sounds like the plan is to trade on a few years

Stanton did get the first no-trade clause in team history.

He will want to be traded. I doubt any MLB player would want to be a marlin for 13 years.

With the amount of backload on that deal, who is going to trade for Stanton? The last year of his deal is somewhere around 31 million...

After that long, it's hard to get rid of the fishy smell.
Sorry for being flippant, but Fussy Newspaper Guy has developed an aversion to describing a player by the team for which he plays. I think it started with Brennaman's mentally-retarded son referring to players as "a Red," like Jay Bruce is a hardline communist or something. Sorry, Thom, but Adam Wainwright isn't actually "a Cardinal," since he doesn't have wings and can't fly. He plays for the Cardinals.

I was discussing that with a friend yesterday. Thing is, in 13 years, $31M may not be that much. Who knows.
