Chugging Pepto.
That may have been easier than any save he had last year.

It is easy to "frame" pitches when the strike zone is 3 feet wide.

Ugly game, but a win is a win.

Cards left some easy runs on base but the cubs looked very sloppy. Im okay with how the cards played.

Rosenthal not hitting a batter or walking anyone was a bonus...

I'm disappointed they didn't get the back-breaking hit. It's only one night, but damn it would've been nice to see them win by five or six runs.

It may not have been perfect, but the Cubs had what, 4-5 lead off hits against Wainwright and 2-3 of those were doubles. We missed a couple of chances to blow it open. The Cubs missed a couple of chances which may have cost them the game. I prefer our situation to theirs.

I believe there was runners on 3rd with less then 2 outs two times. Not getting those two runs to the plate is the only thing i expected to be done better.

I was pleased to see the Cardinals as aggressive on the bases as they were. Until I see a pattern that proves me otherwise, I'm going to think they scouted Lester effectively and were aware he doesn't like to throw to bases, but for one night, it was good to see them take advantage of the speed they have.

I have to think they're going to push it more often this season because they have to.
It is exciting watching Jason Heyward run out of a box.

Then there's this.

It's the same issue we have here with Fenway. It's a 19th century ballpark that if you're George Will or John Updike sitting in the press box makes you wax nostalgic about the good ol' days when bleachers seats were 25 cents because the players were indentured servants, but it's not so nice if you have to sit in the stands.
As for the game, if the Cubs had won it and Lester had pitched well, Passan would have been crowing about Theo's genius and Maddon's nutty professor schtick. As they say, it's one game. There's another tomorrow.

If i was a cub fan id either want a new park with the bells and whistles or the old one redone to the max but without changing the main features. Roof top seating and a manual scoreboard defines that park. Just build a new one, imo.

Lohse was just destroyed by the Rockies.

Bartolo Colon is still fat.

Let the record reflect the tandem of Brennadork's Mentally-Retarded Offspring (BMRO in all future references) and Idiot Sidekick lasted until the bottom of the third before their inherent obtuseness set in. They just spent a half inning convincing each other it's easier to score from second base than it is from first base.

At least the Brewers' offense is picking him up.

With a 10-0 lead, Weiss has Descalso playing for Tulo, and he just made an error. The Rockies are going to find out very quickly that while Scal is a valuable utility guy to have on your roster, he ain't a shortstop.

Speaking of fat, Cueto looks like she spent the winter on the Roseanne Barr diet. Either that or she's bloated because it's her period.

Rain delay in Cincinnazi. No such problems in Los Angeles.

Kershaw has given up three runs in five innings to the Padres. Maybe he thinks it's still last October and he's pitching against the Cardinals.
