After the parents, the most annoying thing about girls softball are the non-stop cheers and chants from the dugout. It's comical that they make these stupid t-shirts with sayings like "My softball player wears cleats not heels." or "Real girls play in the dirt," but then they spend the whole game cheering like a bunch of girls at a slumber party.
They have cheers for hits, cheers for runs, they even have a cheer for when the other team has a conference on the mound.
I function so much better at boys sports.
A few years ago the team I covered put "K Some A" on everything. That means "kick some ass." I don't know why they couldn't use "Kick Some A" because "K Some A" isn't exactly vague. More to the point, THAT'S the best you guys could come up with?

Phil Cuzzi got demoted to girls softball?
Rec.
How many pre-teen girls has Phil tossed so far for arguing balls and strikes?
None yet. His strike zone has been consistently bad all weekend. It's what I call a "tournament strike zone" designed to keep games moving. The strike zone has been pretty much anything from the ankles to the bill of the cap and about 4 inches on either side of the plate. But again, you can't complain because it's been like that for everyone. During a game yesterday, Madison tried to bunt a ball that was over her head. She clearly offered at it. After a called strike 2 and a swinging strike, I told her she was out. The ump corrected me because he considered the first pitch a ball. I've been silent ever since.

To make it worse, the home plate umpire is so bad is comical. I can't be mad because he's been pathetically bad both ways. He's calling balls and strikes before the ball crosses the plate. He just called a strike on a ball a girl hit into the outfield. As I was typing this there was a play at the plate. He called the runner safe, reconsidered and then called her out. His explanation to the other team's manager was that the runner would have been safe if the catcher had dropped the ball, so he called her safe until he knew whether the catcher had held on or not. Once he determined she had, he switched his call. He's been our home plate ump all 4 games this weekend.
I thought joe west was at the cards-reds game

Is it me, or does Cingrani look like Gaston from Beauty & the Beast?

Geez, you would think the Reds would have their catchers work on blocking balls in the dirt during spring training.

Once upon a time Retarded Son and Idiot Sidekick thought Cingrani was the next Cy Young.

Home plate ump just called a pitch a ball only to have to change his call after the batter swung. LMAO.

Of course, there's no criticism of Cingrani for failing to do what they were all over Tsunamy for failing to do.

They were blumping him for throwing breaking balls for strikes in hitters' counts.

I agree with just loading the bases.

Idiot Sidekick just called Choate's slider a "sidewinding little curvy slurvy breaking pitch." I think that's degoratory.

Oh boy. Hell of a situation to take Matt Belisle out for a test drive.

Thats why maness should have just walked him....

Wow, the Reds are going to win another one-run game.

They should have released Choate and kept Freeman.

No kidding. Just awful.

There should be a stat that track when a manager clearly puts his team in position to lose a ballgame. I just dont know what advantage bring choke into the game brought.

I suspect that Matheny didn't want to trot Siegrist out there for a third day in a row, and it's hard to argue with that. If Randy Choate would've done the only thing he's asked to do, this wouldn't be an issue. It also doesn't help that 2-run deficits with the Cardinals may as well be five.
