OK, both called third strikes on Adams weren't as close as the 2-2 on Votto.

OMG. A relief pitcher pitched an entire inning? Is Matheny not feeling well?

He really fought the urge not to bring in Walden for Frazier.

If you've seen one Adams at bat, you've seen the other 90 percent.

The best defensive second baseman in the National League just cost his team two runs.

Siegrist is out there for the ninth?
Sorry, did Matheny get kidnapped or something?

How fucking spoiled are we? The manager gets the team to the NLCS three years in a row, and we think he's a Dunderhead Boob.

That was a good win. It must be stressful being a Cardinals pitcher and waiting around for your offense to find its way, though. They are forever pitching on the margins.

By all accounts, he's a tremendous hitter. I've read about concerns about his defense at third base, and they may ultimately have to move him to a different defensive position.
AKA - The AL?
“the team to the NLCS three years in a row”
STL/SFO 2014 playoff was very tight series(s). Every move magnified:
Position players: Personally I would have selected every Cardinal player over SFO. Maybe Posey/Molina, Panic/Wong, Crawford/Peralta are a wash? Yeah I do Ignore Sandoval when possible.
Pitching: Giants fought thru tough spots. Righettii does it over and over. (remember Zito)
Managing: Bochy (other than Strickland?) made almost all the right moves, he has his team under complete control, every game he seemed one step ahead. He has STL number. He has a lot more experience than Matheny and it shows.
Even though series ended was 4-1: it was a lot closer than that. Little things by Matheny (why take out Lackey?) show up BIG during a series where a few inches on a soft liner make the difference.
