I cant believe he didnt use rosenthal. I hope he isnt hurt. This is to unmatheny like. With an off day today it is even more unmatheny like. Giving him 2 days rest makes sense. I still dont believe it happend. Now if choate gets cut ill know the world is coming to an end.
Accorrding to the P-D, Rosenthal just had a night off, but you're right, it's suspiciously un-Matheny-like.
Seems like I read somewhere during spring training where Matheny said since Walden had closing experience, that he wouldn't be against using him to close occasionally to give Rosie a break....
Let's press MM for an explanation. Or at least a pull quote or two:

The hammer is going to fall on a lot of people in that organization, including Jocketty.

Sorry, Skip. That's exactly what his job is. Rosecrans was the guy who ran afoul of Phillips a couple of years ago for suggesting his OBP was too low for a higher spot in the batitng order. Good to know there's at least one member of the Cincinnati media who isn't a shill for the Reds.

I love how he ends by stating he'll do an interview with Marty, who I have to assume is Marty Brenneman. Certaintly no concern that Marty won't toe the company line.

Speaking of falling hammers, doesn't a giant sized sledge hammer (think Jerry bashing Tom over the skull sized hammer) have to fall in Milwaukee.
Since August 26 of last season (at which time they led the Central by 1.5 games, Milwaukee is 11-33. It's almost inconceivable for a major league team to be that bad over that many games.

Marty will never be confused with Mike Wallace, but he's not an idiot like his son. His problem is he's one of those media figures whose ego has evolved to the point he thinks the games are played so he can broadcast them. I'm sure he assumes Price will feel honored to be interviewed by the Great Marty Brennaman.

I was thinking about that last weekend. Roenicke might be the first manager to go. Probably not fair, since he had that team in first palce far longer than it should have been last year, but they're putrid right now. Their pitching stinks, and their two best players are hurt.
