Rosenthal says according to his sources, it's an Achilles injury for Wainwright and the MRI will confirm it.

That's certainly what it looked like.
Looking for a silver lining, it isn't another arm injury, and this gives his arm some much needed rest. Time for the kids to step up.

I'm guessing Cooney is the best option until Gonzales or Garcia are healthy enough.

Today's lineup:
Carp
Heyward
Peralta
Adams
Reynolds (LF)
Wong
Bourjos
Cruz
Lynn
The days of Lynn getting massive run support are over. Today's game is going to look like spring training.

Honestly, this has a very Larussian feel. They have the series in the bag, and no off-days in sight. I'm surprised Kozma isn't in there somewhere.

And don't fear. I just realized Fiers is pitching. I have him on my fantasy team. Cards will be up 8-2 after 4.

I'm surprised. Usually an Achilles tear is more dramatic (see: Howard, Ryan, 2011 playoffs). That Waino was able to put any weight at all on it to at least my untrained eye would indicate it's only a partial tear instead of a rupture and the recuperation time may be less than the standard year.

8. Juan Centeno (L) C
9. Mike Fiers (R) P

Both ESPN and Fox Sports reporting Waino is done for the year. And Jonny Gomes is singing a happy tune in the Braves' clubhouse.

Can never have to much pitching

"The best defense in the National League" has cost TTTIB four runs so far today.

How is Peralta not on third?

Schafer hit the shit out of that one.
Guy gets a hit like that, you want to walk over and punch him in the face.

I'm paying attention to the game the old fashioned way since the TV at work looks like a strobe light. How does Lynn look? Why is Fiers taking five minutes between pitches?

Schroeder: "You want to avoid throwing this guy (Wong) fastballs over plate."

Tough to say after one inning, but Lynn's breaking ball is flat so far. It looks like his arm slot is lower than usual. Thank goodness he's facing the Brewers, becase he's hung a couple. Davis missed a belt-high hanger that should have been whacked into the upper deck.
Fiers looks like a mechanical arm at the batting cage. His fastball has no movement whatsoever.

TV's back. Watching Fiers pitch is agonizing.

The ole 4-3. Meanwhile, Justin Upton has five home runs.

I'm watching 12U softball. You don't know the definition of agonizing.

Eight LOBs in three innings. Almost a record.

Yeah, it's pretty horrible.

Did you paint your fingernails in the team colors?

I'm about to go fucking ballistic. One of our coaches got the brilliant idea to arrange a scrimmage against a team that has never played. I don't remember us getting a hit, but we've maxed out the run limit every inning. I have no idea what the point of this endeavor was supposed to be, but it clearly has nothing to do with practice or learning.
