Holliday and Carpenter both get the day off? Interesting ...

If Bourjos could just hit a little bit ...

I'm finally catching on to this Bourjos joke. I was going to comment about his average climbing up to .357
Goddamn he's a demon when he's able to run those bases.

He needs more playing time, i dont think he is a everyday player and would become over exposed if he was madd into one. However he is capable to making to much happen not to start more often. To this point im not sure what heyward offers over him. Well besides being left handed.

In fairness, Heyward is by far having his best series as a Cardinal. He's 6 for 13 with 8 runs scored and an RBI. No doubt he's been disappointing, but I'm still hoping he finds something as the weather warms.

Usually I have a pretty good feel of how things are going by the sounds from the ballpark. But with the Cubs in town, I can never tell if a less enthusiastic cheer is Cardinals fans cheering something like an out or Cubs fans cheering something good for their team. Fortunately, this last one was Rizzo striking out.

I bet Lackey getting called for a balk won't piss him off at all.

I'll say this for the Cubs, they are definitely better than they have been. Certainly the second best team in the Central, and I could see them possibly getting into a Wild Card this year.
I haven't said anything remotely that positive about a Cubs team in a very long time now.

To be honest, it didn't really start out as a joke. There was a game a couple of weeks ago when he reached on an infield dribbler down the third base line, stole second and then scored on a bloop single. It was a run out of thin air. Since then, I've been posting it every time he gets a hit, kind of like the "Jon Jay is a god" thing.

No question the Cubs are a vastly improved team. How stupid does Billy Beane look for making the Addison Russell trade. Russell looks legit. Meanwhile, Hammels is back with the Cubs, and Samardzjia is pitching for the White Sox.
I wonder if they'll make a movie about that trade?

I think the Pirates will eventually pass them when they start to hit, but your point is valid. The Cubs are a couple of players away from being a very, very good team. Rizzo, Bryant and Soler in the middle of their lineup is going to be a dangerous combination for a long time.

It was an unusual sequence. Rizzo hit a ground ball to Adams to apparently end the inning, which caused Cardinals' fans to cheer, but the second base umpire called Lackey for a balk, which deadened the play end extended the inning, which caused Cubs' fans to cheer, and then on the next pitch Lackey threw a wicked curve to strike out Rizzo, which made the Cardinals' fans cheer again.

That's a big insurance run.

Raise your hand if you had the Cardinals scoring three runs today with Lackey at the plate.

Rec. At least the A's turned that trade into another one of their World Series appearances under Billy Beane.

Not Beane's fault, the playoffs are random.

It looks like the Dodgers may win today and not get swept by the Brewers. Fors, I wonder if I should revive that thread on Facebook and ask my buddy Rene if he still thinks the NL Central is weak.

The Red Sox fired their pitching coach and DFA'd Eddie Mujica today. You can read a story about it at www.scapegoats.com.

That poor guy had no idea what he started. I was one post away from starting Dodgers haiku.
Cy Youngs mean nothing
When the playoff lights turn on
So sorry Clayton

I may not like his demeanor on the mound, but Lackey gave them a ballsy and much-needed outing today.

No doubt.
Alright gents, I'm counting on you guys to bring this home. I'm leaving for Bob's track meet and need to beat the traffic

I love Rene like a brother, but he can't back up the trash he talks because he doesn't really follow the sport.
I don't think he can name as many as five players from any other team in the league.

I spent 2.5 hours at a track meet yesterday, because Zach's event wasn't until the end. Go figure they wouldn't make the JV shotput a top priority.
