Geez, Cabrera is still in his home run trot.

Re: 5/16 GC

Yeah, that's a ridiculously long trot.

I hope Price gets the same strike zone.

Re: 5/16 GC

Now I'm hoping for a rain out, so Cabrera's milestone gets wiped out.

Do the Tigers have to complain every time the plate umpire calls a strike?

How does Heyward not score there?

Is the third base coach paying attention?

Re: 5/16 GC

This Yahoo recap is blowing my mind. Peralta's run for by Kozma who then gets doubled-up on a foul ball? Not sure I'd want to be watching.

Re: 5/16 GC

This has to be the worst baserunning team in the majors.

Re: 5/16 GC

Cubs have now won six straight and will be three back after the Cardinals lose.

Re: 5/16 GC

I know when I watch baseball games I'm watching to see the umpire make a big call.

Peralta walked and went to second on a wild pitch, at which point Koz came in to run. The next batter (Reynolds?) hit a popup near the stands on the first base side. Cabrera stuck out his glove and the ball landed in it. Koz tried to tag up and Cabrera threw across the diamond. The throw was low, but the third basenam picked it and Kozma was out by 10 feet. And then Yadi singled to center, which likely would have scored Kozma.
The one that really hurt was Heyward not scoring from second on a double by Grichuk.
And then Holliday got thrown out at second leading off the 10th.
Lost in all the baserunning blunders is Belisle walked a leadoff man and he scored. Again.

Imagine how much more you'd enjoy it if you bought a ticket to see the umpire make a big call.

Re: 5/16 GC

A frustrating loss against a good pitcher and good team. Cards shot themselves in the foot .

Thrilling. Every fan walks into that stadium thinking, "man, how awesome would it be to see the home plate umpire get a chance to call a dramatic strike three in the bottom of the 10th inning with the tying run on first?" The only thing that would've been more exciting than David Freese's Game 6 triple would've been the home plate umpire getting to make the decisive strike three call.

Re: 5/16 GC

Please note that the guy the Cardinals traded for sat against a lefty. Maybe it's just me, but you don't trade Shelby Miller for a platoon player.

Re: 5/16 GC

Gulp,  "ace" Lynn to prevent sweep (someone mentioned sweep last week).Seems like a short time ago they had too much pitching?  But since Wacha forced into playoff relief, straight downhill.

I agree.  The trade isnt going to look good.  Idk if the cards will even have interest in resigning heyward.  Gichuk may offer just as much.  I will say that a outfield of holliday, jay and bourjus wouldnt have made anyone happy either.

No, it wouldn't have, but TK made the point a while ago that the Braves were also looking to move, and eventually did move Justin Upton. Upton also plays RF, and his right handed bat may have been a much better fit in the lefty-heavy Cardinals lineup.
