Gricjuk went from platinum to gold in 24 hours
Idk about that yet. A guy that can strike out as much as he has still has a long ways to go to become a everyday option. However when u weigh him against the 7 years 12-15 million heyward is going to bring i think we wins.
1. He isnt a long term committment and someone else can be brought in if he fails.
2. He will hit for more power then heyward
3. His average cant be much worst the heyward
4. Heyward is a better defender but grichuk isnt lance berkman out there.
Heyward is going to have to really increase his worth to make me think anything of him. I take miller back and grichuk in right in a second.
AP, you need to get with the current cost of baseball. Here's a link to a fangraph story which (going into this season) estimated Heyward's value at somewhere between at 8/$200M and 10/$225M. The Cardinals would likely sign him if they thought they could get him for $12-15M per year.

Then he is really not worth it. I know i low balled it and prior to this season i would have agreed with those numbers. However he is lowering his market value. He is batting sub .250. Just rough shooting it but if he ends up 15/60 there isnt a team that would be smart to give him 8/200 contract.

It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out. If Heyward muddles through the season, he's not getting the QO, which means the Cardinals might not even get a draft pick out of the situation.

A offensively starved team cant pay 20-25 million a year for a glove. No team should.

"4. Jason Heyward. Heyward is settling in with the Cardinals, batting .273/.343/.398 since we last checked in. That’s in line with his last couple of seasons, but another 10-15 home run campaign isn’t going to get him a monster contract. Just 26 in August, Heyward’s youth and defensive value should still result in a deal worth well over $100MM."
That is off of mlbtraderumors.com and was included in free agent power rankings. While "well over 100 million" could mean anything i think it means the total would be closer to 100 million then 200 million. If the writer Tim Dierkes thought it was going to be close to 200 million he would have wrote that instead of what he did. That would make his current value closer to the 8 years 96-120 milliin then 8 years 200 million. Accourding to this writer im close to the current cost of baseball. I admitt to not knowing jack about this writer and i believe i remember being wrong once before but it is a faint memory.

I have a hard time believing they wouldn't make the QO. It's hard to have a bad 1 year contract, and in all likelihood someone would give him a multi-year deal.
