From what you guys were posting, it sounds like he went through a bit of a high-wire act, but looking at the end result, difficult to believe the Cardinals could have imagined anything better from Garcia. They haven't had many 7 inning starts from the guys who have been with the team all season.

deGrom had outstanding stuff today and would have beaten a lot of teams . Garcia needed 4 double plays and a pickoff to keep it close . 5 base on balls extended his pitch count to some degree. With a little offense, he probably wins . deGrom may not pitch that well the rest of the year .

It wasnt bad for his first start in the majors in however long. It isnt going to cut it in the future tho. As don pointed out it took alot of dp to get him through. He still has great movement and if he gets ahold of his control he will be fine. Those leadoff walks were troublesome.

I dont see a point in keeping choate. He has been horrible.
