Marco Gonzales shut down
New discomfort in his shoulder. I assume an amputation will be needed.
Seriously though, shoulder discomfort is like a death sentence for a pitcher. I don't think the Cardinals can count on him pitching this season.
Given that it's almost a certainty that Garcia will break down, time to start looking for another option.

I agree that garica will sooner or later fall apart. Idk when the cardinals should head to the trade market. I think it is inevitable.

Something that would prevent a body part from doing what it normally does.

There are three critical moving parts to the shoulder - the rotator cuff, the biceps tendon and the labrum. I *only* had a torn rotator cuff and a torn biceps tendon. I've known people who've done the hat trick.
The good news is if you opt to have shoulder surgery, you can lead a normal, pain free life after about four months. My throwing arm is probably about 50 percent of what it was before the tear, but I can do normal things like open the garage door and shoot a basketball without pain.
The bad news is those first four months - especially the initial four weeks when you're in a sling - are sheer misery.
