I like the idea of howard. Even tho reynolds splits are even in lhp vs rhp platooning howard would be attractive. If the phillies eat alot of his contract it would be excellent imo. There would not be much risk.
Nobody else on that list really trips my trigger. The idea lf beltre is the best imo. I think it is the best way to add middle of the order power to this lineuo. I feel that is what it needs. True his number are on the decline but i still think he is better then any other option.

Give Bourjos credit for causing that throw.
You think. I thought the slight contact was made after or toward the very end of the throw. It was just contact with the heel. I didnt think it shoukd have caused air mail. Maybe bourjos coming down the shoot may have unnerved him.
Nah, Bourjos got the whole foot mid-throw. He actually got the catcher with the left knee rather than his right foot. I give the D-backs credit for acknowledging it was just a clean hard slide and not trying to make more out of it than it was.
Here's a link to the video. Jump to the 44 second mark for the slow motion version

For sure Bourjos made that happen.....

Ok, now there are two big pickups parked out in front. It's a big 2-family (the only one on the street) with high hedges to the front and left side, and a 6-foot fence to the right and along the back. The shades are always drawn.
I'm not sure how many people live there. There's a grandmother, two women who appear to be 40-45, a couple of women in their late teens, a couple of pre-teen girls and a boy who is maybe 8-9. All the kids of school age are home-schooled, or at least I've never seen any of them walking to and from school. There was a boy who is probably 25 now. When we moved in, he was about 13 and went to the public school, but according to Cub Fan's wife next door, the kid got picked on a lot, started wearing Goth attire and grew his hair long, dropped out of high school and ended up moving to Florida.
There goes one of the pickups ... let's see what happens next.
Pretend like ur selling something for ur kids and knock on the door 10 minutes after someone enters.
I'm not going anywhere near there, AP. I've been branded an unfriendly anyway. The kid who ended up going Goth used to come down to our end of the street and hang out with the Cub Fan's two older kids, even though there was a decent age difference. They used to reenact the light sabre fights from the Star Wars movies with wiffle ball bats, which in reality consisted of the older kid beating on the two younger kids until they cried. I suggested they emulate a less violent movie, like Harry Potter. All the color drained out of the kid's face and he said "Harry Potter is evil." And no one who lives in the house has talked to me since.

Allen, Craig, 1B/OF, Pawtucket: Hitting .315 with zero home runs in 61 plate appearances. May never start another MLB game.
I feel bad for Craig. He didn't bail on us, he struggled and we offloaded him. I don't wish him ill, much like I don't wish Jason Motte ill, even though he is now a Cub.
It shouldn't be forgotten that Craig was an important contributor to a team that won a World Series and played in another when the more prudent (and self-serving) option would have been to rest an injured foot that was obviously a lot worse than he let on. Motte is impossible to dislike, even if he's wearing the blue pajamas.

I suppose it mostly comes down to how much of his contract the Phillies are willing to eat, and what they want in return. He's owed what's left of $25 million this year and $25 million next year. There's a $23 million option for 2017 with a $10 million buyout.
So the question becomes what happens when Adams comes back? I'm not sure there's room on an NL roster for two lumbering lefthanded power hitters who are average or worse defenders at first base, especially with one a much cheaper option than the other. I suppose if Adams is done for the season you worry about that later, but again it doesn't seem like a move Moz would make unless Howard arrives on a one-way trip in a Brinks truck.

Idk if it is true but the report state the phillys will eat 85%. If thats the case i dont think money is an issue. Adams wasnt impressing me at all and i still think him being off the roster will ultimately be a good thing. Bernie had a good read on the first base issue. Part of it points out how shitty adams was doing and how easy he will be to replace.

I don't know if you heard Moz's interview with The Cat the other night, but it sounded pretty clear they were already starting to head in a direction away from Adams. The only first baseman in the majors who has a lower OPS this season is Chris Carter.

No i missed that. If that's the case i would think they are explore options not named mark Reynolds. I dont see anyone in the minors thst is a game changer. On other thing bernie said which is true is that there is no hurry.
