Peralta has been a late scratch and Kozma will be filling in. I don't know the circumstances, so perhaps I'm talking out of my ass, but Matheny seems to value silly things like "seniority" and "dues paid" rather than playing the guy who gives you a better chance of winning. Tony La Russa may have been a hard ass of a manager to please, but I'm guessing players knew good damn and well where they stood with him and that he was going to call their number on any given day. Matheny doesn't seem to give guys that same opportunity.

Per Goold, Matheny has been looking to give him a day off. After putting him in the original lineup but later talking to him, decided to give it to him today.
