MLB really has to look at the criteria for saves. Back in the day, the 3-inning save was a way of acknowledging a guy like Gossage or Fingers throwing multiple innings in relief, but the only thing Villanueva *saved* yesterday is a couple of innings for the rest of the bullpen, which isn't insignificant, but doesn't necessarily need to be recognized statistically.
The save in a 3-run game is kind of questionable, too. The potential trying run ought to at least come to the plate for the game to attain a save situation.
