It's almost impossible to overstate how much I want the Cardinals to sweep today.

The Cardinals run the bases for shit.

Lyons makes things harder on himself than he has to.

Still it is inning 5 and there is just 2 runs on the board. It has to be hard to be in his situation and know in order to win he has to throw 7 shutout innings and his a solo home run.

I find the walkup music to be overly loud, abrasive and annoying.

Well, that's not entirely untrue, but I was referring to the four walks he's given up. There's never a reason to walk Chris DeNorfia on four pitches unless first base is open and the pitcher is on deck. He threw a wild pitch that cost him a run. And he's given up a couple of hits on 2-strike counts to left-handed hitters. He works harder than he needs to, throws more pitches and has shorter outings. When he's been in the majors, it's been a pattern.

She should drop the word "Blood" from the title.

I'd gladly accept the revenue she's generated from [insert title of any Taylor Swift song released in this decade]

I wonder if there's statistical analysis about a pitcher's ERA in the half-inning after the pitcher has run the bases.

Nice debut by Hatley. That extra run isn't important at all.

There you go equating revenue to talent. You're in good company, though. One of my MIL's favorite cliches is "He/She/They must be doing something right because he's/she's/they're making a lot of money."

Not at all. I'd still take the money she's making, talented or not. I'd take the money the Cubs are paying Edwin Jackson, and I know he isn't talented.

Can someone explain to me the point of double-switching Carpenter into the game? Carpenter's spot probably doesn't come up again in the batting order. And if Matheny really felt it necessary to keep Carpenter in the game, I'd much rather Reynolds had come out as opposed to Wong.
Never mind- now they're reporting Wong may have hit his head when he dove for a ball earlier in the game. He's apparently being checked for a concussion.

Is there any plausible explanation for bringing Choate into the game to face a righthanded hitter and a switch hitter who has a much better average from the right side?
