Re: 9/9 GC

Wow. Biggest win of the season so far.
The first seven innings were stressful and painful, but the end was worth it. Good thing my wife isn't home yet, because I would have said to her "Kind of like giving birth, eh?"

Re: 9/9 GC

Artie, in your honor.

Magic number to clinch a wild card spot- 9
Magic number to win the division outright- 20

Great. Now the Pirates, Cubs and Giants will pass them.

Re: 9/9 GC

The Reds are awful, except for Votto and Chapman.

Re: 9/9 GC

I swapped to the end of Mets/Nashnils, but the Reds have rallied to make it 5-4. Votto got tossed somehow, though. And there are probably 5,000 people left in the ballpark. In the ninth inning of a 1-run game ...

Brantley: "Clint Hurdle would like to add on a run or two before the bottom of the ninth."
He gets paid to say things like that.

Re: 9/9 GC

Votto apparently got chucked for arguing with the plate umpire after Votto asked for timeout and it wasn't granted.

Re: 9/9 GC

At this point this really comes down to the Cardinals taking care of business against crappy teams. 17 of their last 23 games are against the Brewers, Reds and Braves who are a combined 69 games under .500.

The Pirates and Cubs have 7 games left against each other. The Pirates also have 3 left with LA. The schedule definitely favors us.

Well Votto got his money's worth I tell you that. I don't like him because he's a Red, but my god I'd love him if he was a Cardinal. He hates anyone not on his team, he produces, works his butt off, clearly passionate for the game.... It's just really too bad he's wasting away in Cinncinati.
