Coaching changes

Nice to see the Browns putting up a fight. Will Mangini get fired during this game, or will they wait until tomorrow?

Re: Coaching changes

Sporano might get fired first. Man, the Dolphins look cold.

Re: Coaching changes

Good thing John Fox was already fired. His players are putting up quite a fight as well.

Then again Carolina just sucks.

Speaking of sucks, I just saw Kyle Boller playing for the Raiders. I'm assuming Campbell got hut, but what happened to Gradkowski?

Gradkowski went on IR with his annual season-ending injury about a month ago.

Re: Coaching changes

I forgot to mention the Mangenius move of the day was going for two when he's behind 41-9.

Re: Coaching changes

Vice President of Football Operations = John Elway

Wonder who he will convince to come to the Broncos as coach now?  His car sales ability will be tested with the teams worst record ever!  On another note - one would think they could only get better after this year

Re: Coaching changes

I don't know why Harbaugh wouldn't be in the mix for the Denver job.

YIKES!!  That sure would put a dent in the Elway pedestal/monument out here in Colorado! (shocked)

Re: Coaching changes

The only way I think you see the Dolphins cut Sporano is if Harbaugh or Cowher really wants in. I would be all for that coaching move too. Harbaugh would be awesome, he teaches football the right way at Stanford. That team had it all, smashmouth hardass football, and great offensive play. Oregon's tempo killed them, or they would have mopped the field with us.

Re: Coaching changes

Is this the same Jim Harbaugh who played at Michigan and then stunk as a quarterback for the Bears?

Re: Coaching changes

I think "stunk as a quarterback for the Bears" applies to everybody that's played that position since Sid Luckman, but yes.

He's also the guy who threw a dropped Hail Mary in the 1995 AFC Championship game against Pittsburgh and the guy who was traded so the Colts could draft Peyton Manning.

I was just talking shit here, but it looks like I have Ross' ear on this one. He's apparently dropped 8 million a year in front of Harbaugh.

I'm okay with this, it's $8 Million, but it's not on the salary cap, so who cares. Harbaugh is about the only prayer in hell Henne has at becoming an NFL quarterback...

Re: Coaching changes

Charlie Casserly thinks Hue Jackson will be Oakland's next HC. This seems like a good move, so I can only conclude that Al Davis died.

Re: Coaching changes

Shurmur is expected to be named the next head coach of the Browns while the Rams are going to target and likely hire Josh McDaniels.

Re: Coaching changes

McDaniels make little sense. You spent a whole season teaching Bradford the West Coast offense, now they go a different direction?

Re: Coaching changes

I'm of two minds: McDaniels is a brilliant offensive mind who was doing some pretty innovative stuff (from what I've heard anyway), but like you, I don't understand moving away from the WCO after one season.

Re: Coaching changes

I'm all for innovation. I wonder how McDaniel's offense compared to what Bradford ran at OU?

This is a long, but good read on his/Belichick/Weis's system.

Shurmur to Browns is official.

Re: Coaching changes

Interesting.  Well I guess we get to find out whether or not Shurmur was the problem.

Re: Coaching changes

So!  John Elway has decided to hire a coach who was just fired for an even worse season than the Broncos had this year?  John Fox did have some success in the past & is supposed to be a defensive guy but one has to ask what happened this year?  A 4 year contract for about 3.5 million & the Broncos are now paying 3 head coaches. Hmmm.
