Re: 9/30 Game 2 crap

"Im a pirate fan untill then tho.  Cubs scare me."

Pirates scare me, too. In fact, all four teams in the NL scare me, to varying degrees.
And don't get me started on the Blue Jays.

Who is Rusty Wallace?

Retired NASCAR driver from the St. Louis area.

Ironically enough drove a miller light car most his career.

Define irony: A beer company's logo on a car.

And Heyward? What can you say ?

If you're Mo, you say something like "How's 6 years and $130 million sound, Jason?"

I look for his contract to be alittle on the elaborate side.  It will probably have an opt out as they seem to be all the hype.

I think heyward wants to be in stl.  His first year playing for the cardinals and he played in front of 40,000 fans nightly at home.  He is a division champ and playoff bound.   His hr and rbis are not career highs but hits, doubles and stolen bases are.  It is up to the cards to give him the contract but outside of a ridiculous bidding war I can see him staying.

He has grown on me.  I didnt care for him at first but as you watch him daily, and he came out of his beging of the season slump I really learned to enjoy his play.  You just can't look at one trait in relation to how he wins games.  He does it alot of different ways.  The good thing about that is even if he is slumping at rhe the plate he can help a team in other ways.   his attitude seems to be superb.   Even in Atlanta when he was the second coming he didnt seem to play into it.  He deserves the biggest contract the cardinals have ever wrote because thats what it will take.

Lol sort of but I didnt think of that.  Sort of like drive through lanes atvthe liquor store.

I was just hinting that miller light isnt exactly STL's choice in beer.

BTW, I'm sure tonight will have little bearing on the playoff roster, but I think we confirmed TK's point about Lyons making it over Choate.

It's too bad Lyons doesn't have a start or two left in the regular season, because a couple more like that and you'd have to think about putting him in the playoff rotation ahead of Lynn. Especially if the Cardinals play the Pirates. He carved them up like Inigo Montoya dueling the Six-Fingered Man.

That woukd be very un matheny like.  Lynn has alot of milage points with matheny and it seems those count heavily.....allen craig

"I think heyward wants to be in stl."

You're obviously able to listen to him speak more than I have, but from what I've seen he's been remarkably effective at dodging questions about his future. Maybe that's on the advice of his agency, but I get the sense that as much as he may be enjoying his time in St. Louis, the decisive factors in where he plays in the future are dollars and years.

It's funny how NASCAR banned anything that has to do with tobacco companies, but they let you put any ol' liquor ad on the side of a car.
Given the choice, I'd rather see a car coming at me being driven by a guy smoking a Marlboro than one being driven by a guy who's halfway into a liter of Jim Beam.

I know, I know. And it's only one start. But Lynn just seems gassed. His ERA in September is more than a run higher than any other month.
And he's been terrible against the Cubs (0-3; 7.64) and not much better against the Pirates (0-2; 4-86). Left-handed batters are just killing him.

Re: 9/30 Game 2 crap

I wonder who they will throw and what the lineups will be for the next 3 games.  Im unsure if rest or momentum is most important.

★"I wasn't surprised. If I was traded, I knew I could end up anywhere," Heyward said. "So for me, it was more common sense that I was going to an organization that has a great mindset, a positive atmosphere, a good fan base that understands the game of baseball. That's something I feel like can benefit me."

★"For me, I hope I love it so much I won't have to leave," Heyward said at the Cardinals' fan convention,

None of that mean st louis gets a hometown discount.  They will have to win the bidding war or be in the same ballpark as the highest bidder.  I think stl has the best shot if they are able to pay the price tag.
