There are probably too many similarities to Dennis Erickson to suit ASU. And I don't know how much energy he'd be willing to devote to recruiting, which is the one thing Todd Graham seems to do well - at least in comparison to his game management. If I were a college head coach secure enough in my job, I'd consider bringing Martz in as my OC, the way Saban has employed Lame Kiffin. Martz would probably enjoy all the things he could try with a Pac 12 offense.
He should've gone to college after he was fired by the Rams, but like you say, the devotion to recruiting has to be desirable.

Pungent yet poignant. Well done, Artie!

Mark Reynolds to the Rockies on a 1-year, $2.6 million deal. I have nothing bad to say about Mark Reynolds, and I'm glad he's not coming back to the Cardinals.

Brayan Pena has apparently been given Chris Carpenter's number 29. I'm going to throw up in my mouth.

If he can hit 20hrs again Colorado is the placs to do it.

Brandon Phillips might be headed to Washington, pending his waiving his no-trade clause.

That should make the Nashnils the team to beat in the National League again this year.

All I remember about Dennis Erickson is he was a hell of a closer for the Athletics. Until the Kirk Gibson bomb...
(Yes, I'm joking)

Holliday is working on first base as fors said was in the plans. This is exciting to me. Im not sure why because I dont think it will open the door to a FA signing. I think it will open the door to a 4 way time share between moss, adams, piscotty and holliday. Adams being the odd man out most days. I say this because I think mo believes in moss. Maybe because he has a legitimate chance to rebound provided the kind of ops in the past. 2012 .954, 2013 .859, 2014 .772. Even last year he had a ops of .711 (.753 w/cards). Admittedly those are not all star numbers but a .800 ops without dipoing into the FA market I believe is Mo desire. Idk really
So really moving holliday to first just makes for better outfield defense. Hopefully holliday can play first well enough not to lose the vaule of the position switch.
And I might be wrong about another FA signing. Holliday is definitely working out early enough for the cards to get a feel how it is going before all the FA are off the board. I also think the market is trending down.

Just wondering how realistic it is to believe carp, peralta, holliday, grichuk, moss and piscotty hit 20hrs in 2016?
Peralta, I hope benifits from more time off. He had 17hrs in 2015 so it isnt outrageous to think he will hit 3 more hrs.
Holliday, he had a horrible year. It looks like his hrs days are over based off 2015 but he has been a lock for 20 yearly hrs.
Grichuk, hit 17hrs in 2015 as well. If anyone is a lock I think, if healthy, thats grichuk.
Piscotty, hit 7 hrs in 233 ab. I dont think he quit makes it. He probably falls in the wong category of a ceiling of 15hrs.
Carp, we will see if 2015 power surge was a fluke. I dont think anything carp does at the plte.
Moss, he has 20hr potential if im correct that mo wants to see 500 ab from him. It will take alot of strike outs to get there but I think he can.
I dont think it is to far fetched to believe the cards will have 5 20hr guys and 2 15hr guys. This is the offseason. The time of the year when I get to make believe an average team can win it all.

Phillips wouldn't waive his no trade without an extension and the Nashnils walked away.

LMAO. Enjoy battling for 4th place. Dumbass.

I don't understand why Matheny is getting killed for this. I would have said "Fuck Jason Heyward" and left it there, but I guess MM feels like he has to maintain a modicum of dignity.

If they sign this guy, I hope the P-D has the good sense to run a headline that reads: "Cardinals take Giant Leake."

It's a done deal.
Is this the first ASU guy to join the Cardinals?

Does Cody McKay count?

I looked through the list. Bob Horner and Fernando Vina also were ASU guys.
Which department store will Mike Leake rob here in St. Louis?

Fernando Vina. Bob Horner.

He didn't rob it. He shoplifted.

Seeing 5 years, $80M
I guess that's going to become the new norm, but man, 5 years seems like a long time for an OK pitcher.

That kind of scratch will buy a lot of t-shirts at Macy's.

One day you're shoplifting, the next you're holding up a K-Mart. Let's hope his picture has been placed in all the stores.
(I'm just covering up for my improper wording.)

Not sure how I feel about this. Leake is a decent pitcher. 16 million Iisnt that much by the markets standards and it is better then doing nothing. They didnt lose a draft pick so thats worth some extra cash. He is basicly lance lynn as far as on the field value. I think ulimately the cards can trade out of this contract billg bean style or this allows them to trade lynn if he is able to recover his value post injury. I suppose in thinking about it I see it as a decent move. Not spectacular but decent.

Remember, you also get Leake's bat. He used to DH when he was at Arizona State.
(Inside joke. Brennadouche used to reference his offensive numbers in college at least once every time Leake started on the mound for TTTIB.)
