"I visited Nationals camp on Wednesday, and our old friend Dusty Baker kept making reference to Royce.Who?Did he mean Royce Clayton?Turns out, the new Washington manager was referring to Bryce Harper. His new team's best player. And reigning MVP. He did it twice."
It isn't really that important though. "Royce" probably won't play many day games.

A few days ago, there was a article about Papelbaum. He showed up to his first press conference - the one where he was going to express contrition for his bad behavior last year - with a sleeveless t-shirt that read "Obama can't take away these guns" with an arrow pointing to each biceps.
Someone from the Nationals apparently told him a change of attire might be a wise idea if he wanted people to believe in his newfound humility.

I would be only mildly surprised if it turns out Harper hadn't heard of Baker before he was hired. One of the constants of professional sports is the current players' ignorance of the players who came before them.
When Art Shell became the Raiders' head coach (the first time), there was a young defensive tackle on the team named Nolan Harrison whose self-confidence far out-stripped his ability.
The story goes that Shell was trying to go through a drill for the linemen, and Harrison was paying scant attention. When Shell said something to Harrison, Harrison shot back something along the lines of "I don't have to listen to you. It's not like you played or anything." When the drill was over, Willie Brown went up to Harrison and quietly informed him his new coach was the best offensive tackle in the history of the sport.
