4. The Cardinals need more offense.

I know the Cardinals really think their "Cardinal Way" bullshit is important, and they try to convince everyone that their clubhouse is a magical place where interlopers aren't accepted, but short of learning that they're pedophiles, it's inexcusable that they apparently never considered Upton or Cespedes this offseason.

This offense is borderline unwatchable. It has been for 3 years now and they've done nothing to fix it because they could hide the deficiencies behind a year during which they had an unsustainable rate of hitting with RISP and 2 years of exceptional pitching. If the pitching regresses to merely above-average, this team won't win 85 games.

When they get Peralta back, it will be just like acquiring a hitter at the trade deadline.

I'd prefer a good hitter.

Have they hit since mccgwire left?

I still think it is a damn shame cespedes was never considered.

When I was at our fantasy draft yesterday, I was at a table with another guy and his kid. Their team is awful. They'd buy a terrible player, and I'd hear, "well he fills a spot on the roster."  So did Pete Kozma, it didn't make him good.

This same guy drafts 2 catchers every year, meaning one of them has to be his DH. He's finished last 3 years in a row.

Re: 4/3 Opening Day Gamecrap

I was fine with them passing on Cespedes, but the team not even feigning interest in Justin Upton is weird. I thought the decision to overpay for Mike Leake was acceptable given the shakiness of the rotation and the unknowns behind him. That logic applied to the offense as well. The Cardinals are becoming Jeff Fisher-like in treating offense like it's secondary.

You can't lose if the other team doesn't score.

We had to pause our draft four times last week because the new guy in our league and his kid couldn't figure out how to draft Zack Greinke in the first round. I'm all for spending quality time with your kids, but keyrist take him out in the back yard and play catch with him. Don't waste an hour of my time because you can't read a Yahoo draft menu.

That's true. Usually it leads to .500 unless your pitching staff goes off like it's 1968.

Sorry. It's an inside joke at the expense of Marblehead High's former boys basketball coach. We used to say a perfect game for him ends with a 2-0 win.

Kudos for a seriously great ref. But let's not start a holy war Harris.
